I have tutored Algebra 2 to middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students for the past four years at my community college and university. At Antelope Valley College, I helped many underperforming students from all ages. Many of them succeeded in their classes and as a result in 2013 I was named the best math tutor of the year. At UC Berkeley, I volunteered for a teaching program, and I continued my same teaching approach. I taught many students the fundamentals of Algebra 2 at their preferred pace, and I would only move on to more complicated subjects until they were ready. Fortunatel [more]

I am a Caltech graduate with a degree in Mathematics and 25 years experience as an Aerospace Engineer. I love teaching math and realize that every student has a unique learning style, so I try to tailor my lessons to allow each student to use their strengths to solve a problem in the way that is easiest for them, while also working on their weak points so they will have more tools available to them to solve problems in different ways in the future. I have helped students with Algebra 2 for four months at a High school. I did after school tutoring every day for students who needed homework help or wanted to stay ahead. I'm Kya! I am currently a sophomore at Spelman University majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology. In high school, I realized the classes that I liked the most weren't necessarily the topics I enjoyed. Rather, it was the teachers that taught the subject. These teachers were always engaging and comprehensible when teaching the material to the class. I try to bring this type of knowledge to the table when I tutor stude [more]
