Algebra II has a whole host of new concepts including advanced factoring, function transformations, sequences, and series. We learn the relationship between exponential and log functions. I also enjoy connecting with the student to demonstrate how synthetic division, long division, factoring, finding the zeros, graphing a polynomial, and evaluating a polynomial are all related. I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I gauge where the student is at in knowing the concepts by [more]

Hello prospective students (and parents, spouses, or loved ones), My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you just enough to let you pass that next exam. I work with my students so that they not only know the material that we are covering, but also so that they understand the meaning of the material, the background behind it, and how to apply it in the real world. This allows for my students to handle those really difficult problems where they have to not just recite what was learned, but us... [more]

After having worked 30 years as an engineer for major aerospace firms, I have recently decided to retire. I can now pursue the things I like to do. One of things I like to do is to tutor. I love working with people, especially when they see significant improvement because of my help. I have been successfully tutoring the last six years and have helped many people along the way.... ACT/SAT test tutor with Compass Education for 10 years. I also teach the math subjects in detail along with Chemistry and Physics. I have 20+ years as a math and science subject tutor and 10 years as an ACT/SAT math/science tutor. As a working engineer I use these math principles almost every day. I bring real world examples of just how practical these math skills can be and enjoy helping students enjoy learning math. I began tutoring by helping other students in my high school classes. In college, I worked as a private math and physics tutor starting with my own fraternity brothers and br [more]

Over the last 5 years I tutored all the levels of math to elementary, middle, high school and college students (including people from Mathematics Department at Moscow State University). Algebra 2 presents all sorts of new challenges that people struggle with, from factoring gnarly expressions (which can be brilliantly solved by my ?big star? method!) to understanding conic sections from hyperbolas to ellipses. You?ll experience exponential growth in your understanding of exponential growth, and when you solve equations, you?ll end up with a solution for ?grade? that equals ?A?! [more]

From polynomials, to functions to graphs. I will help make the subject of Algebra make sense and even make it a little fun! I have helped many students improve their study skills and test scores in this subject. I can help explain the topic in a way that makes sense, and I can help if earlier algebra skills are lacking. I have an undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Mathematics and Statistics with a Finance Cognate. I helped run the Math tutoring lab for almost 5 years, and have been tutoring for longer than that, having worked for 3 different companies before I started my own business. [more]

I work hands on with Algebra every day and have tutored in the subject for over four years. I am a full-time student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education with plans to obtain my teaching credential. I have worked as a tutor at a local community college for the past five years and I LOVE what I do! I am certified through CRLA. My biggest strengths are my patience and ability to explain difficult concepts in a clear and easy to follow way. I am always learning and looking for new techniques that can improve my abilities. My biggest weakness is my tendency to ... [more]
