Most of what is taught in this course has application in science - lot of functions, graphing, and polynomial equations. I use this math all the time with my chemistry students. This makes me especially good at the word problems you find in Algebra II. My whole approach to teaching can be summed up by a quote from Albert Einstein: "Imagination is More Important than Knowledge." I teach for long-term retention of concepts - not short term retention of facts. In today's connected world, the facts are at our fingertips. It's what we know how to do with those facts that matters! My tutoring sessio [more]

I am a 2015 JD from the University of Texas and received my BA in History from Rice in 2010. I have nearly seven years of tutoring experience, four of which have been as a full-time profession. No two students are the same, and figuring out how to work with young minds to teach them how to reach their own potential drives me to get back into the tutoring business full time. I get results because I know how to adjust to the student and to work with him or her. Half of tutoring comes in the pr... [more]

I have been tutoring privately for over ten years. I have been employed as a tutor for math, science, and English at high schools in San Antonio and Taft, Texas. I have also tutored math and science for two universities in San Antonio, and taught several biology and environmental science lab courses at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. I have a degree in biology with a math minor and am currently working on a masters degree in environmental science. I have been tutoring math priva... [more]

Hello! My name is Kristin and I would love to tutor you or your child! Here are some of my qualifications: I've taught high school science for 5 years, both in an urban, lower income school and an exemplary rated, nationally recognized school. Thus, I've worked with all types of students. I've taught IPC, biology, and chemistry. I completed my teacher training with the prestigious Teach for America program and I currently work with them as an Instructional Coach to train new teachers ... [more]

In Algebra 2, students take the skills they've mastered in Algebra 1 (representing unknowns with variables, manipulating variable expressions and equations, etc.) and go on a function safari, visiting the various kinds of functions they'll use in all future pursuits in continuous math: -Quadratic Functions -Cubic Functions -Higher-order Polynomial Functions -Exponential and Logarithmic Functions -Rational Functions -Radical Functions -Trigonometric Functions Whew! With possible forays into conic sections, the binomial theorem, sequences and series, finance, etc. There often isn't time in the [more]

I earned a Master's degree in Chemistry. While in undergraduate school I was a supplemental instructor for organic chemistry. In graduate school I worked as a laboratory instructor for the organic chemistry lab, this included teaching about the laboratory experiments and the concepts of chemistry for why the experiment worked the way it did. Since graduating with my Master's degree, I have been teaching as an adjunct professor of general Chemistry at various community colleges. I am current... [more]

Education is important in the development of a child. Mathematics especially helps the student to critically think and work out steps to solve real life word problems. To truly understand mathematics, you can't just memorize formulas or equations. My name is Jimmy Garza, and I have more than 9 years in tutoring experience. I can tutor in any math subject K-12 and even in Chemistry. I have worked with home-schooled students on some of these subjects. Being a younger tutor, I certainly can rela... [more]

As a certified math teacher, I can help you with Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and College Algebra. We can learn about polynomials, real and complex numbers, and radical and rational functions. We can also study logarithmic, trigonometric, and exponential functions. More advanced topics such as vectors, polar coordinates, parametric equations, matrix algebra, conic sections, sequences and series, and mathematical induction can be covered. I can reteach lessons, help with homework, or guide you through a more rigorous treatment of these topics. As needed, we can reinforce prerequisite topics from [more]

I have taught Algebra II using a variety of curriculum materials and instructional strategies. My classroom experience has been with both traditional and accelerated or Pre-AP Algebra II. I have experience with students ranging from those who learn at a rapid pace to those who need extra time to master the concepts and skills. I love math and helping students understand and apply what they are learning. I taught high school and college mathematics for more than 30 years and have tutored students individually throughout that time. I work to understand at the student's level and then assist [more]

I have a passion for helping students succeed and have been tutoring over twenty years. Teaching in a regular classroom is great but one-on-one tutoring is much more effective. I love learning but have not always been a teacher. I worked in industry over twenty years, earned a lucrative salary, and had a promising career. However, I was not fulfilled. As a community service project, I began volunteering at the local high school, tutoring Math and Science. I found my calling and gained an exce... [more]
