As a practicing Civil Engineer, I use math and science daily at work. I have been helping students increase their confidence and grades in Algebra 2 since 2004. Seeing a student succeed is the best part about being a tutor. I have helped many students earn higher grades and better test scores than they ever thought possible. My method of teaching is geared towards complete comprehension and mastery of a topic; I will ensure that your student can work out test problems and employ critical thinking skills on their own. Every student has the potential to succeed in any subject; I am only here to [more]

Algebra II is a return to an algebra based class, even though it usually follows geometry. Most students need a refresher on the more complex properties of algebra found in previous classes. Also, this is the first time we see more interesting topics such as conic sections, logarithms, trig and others. By now it is expected to have solid algebra techniques developed in algebra I, which is where a lot of students need help. Hi all, My name is Josh. Thank you for taking the time to consider me as a tutor. I am currently a Math Professor at a local community college and Cal Poly Pomona. I would [more]

I never expected that my life would turn out this way. As a child I fantasized about having jobs like rock star, movie star, sports star but never teacher. In college I started to tutor with an organization called Educational Talent Search. I took the job because I needed some extra spending money that I could use for Saturday night. I would tutor 4 hours a week at a local high school. That is where I met a student, let's call her Mary. She would come in every tutoring session looking for hel... [more]

Algebra 2 is my favorite topic in Math, so evidently I have tutored most in this topic. It's my absolute joy to see a student having an "ah-ha" moment after I explained different concepts in Algebra 2 with the methods, tips and "tricks" I have learned growing up in China. Nowadays, I start to see more and more students equipped with some of these "tricks" when they come to my tutoring sessions. All of them have learned from math teachers who were educated up to high school in Asia. This is not to compare which educational system is better (I think both have their advantages and disadvantages [more]

I am a current Calculus student at SMC. Algebra is done meticulously and it's something of a staple when it comes to doing Calculus. I have previously taken precalculus and algebra leading to those two classes. I have gotten B or better for both classes. Hey students, and friends I hope you are all doing well and eager to pursue higher education. I would like to say that many of us just tackle homework problems and get bored of school work. True education is fun and exciting and will make you look forward to more tougher, challenging subjects. I am a student myself, and gone through many ups a [more]
