I have been tutoring all high school and college math courses, and many science courses, for the past 20 years with students of all abilities, from those who have a phobia of math to those who are looking for a little edge to get them into a top-tier college/graduate school, including Algebra 2. I generally use the students' current knowledge and ask probing questions to get them to teach themselves the material and bring in experiences to facilitate learning (I find this Socratic method works best for retention), but, when needed, will lecture. Much of algebra 2 involves working with functions, using functions to solve real world problems, transforming functions vertically and horizontally. It also involves working with complex fractions. These are just a few of the concepts common in algebra 2. I have had about 25 years experience in this field. I have had 15 years experience teaching high school science, including biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, and forensic science. In addition, I have been tutoring at a local community college for the past five years in such subjects as physics, algebra, and anatomy and ph [more]
