Algebra 2 is one of the math subjects that I have the most experience tutoring. I found that breaking down difficult concepts using a step by step approach provides students with the understanding and confidence necessary to apply their newfound knowledge to more challenging questions. Because Algebra 2 involves concepts that require knowledge from previous math classes, I ensure that students have a strong background in those more basic concepts before tackling more complex concepts. Most students at Crafton Hills College came into the tutoring center with questions about algebra 2. Because of this the bi-weekly training's focused on algebra 2 and customer service. In training I was asked to solve problems as clearly as possible and set up a step-by-step procedure for solving similar problems. I have always enjoyed tutoring. I first started tutoring at Crafton Hills College in the tutoring center there. I loved getting to know all the people who came down to the tutoring center. I hold a BS from UC Irvine (doubled major in math and bio science). I was selected to teach algebra in the federally sponsored Upward Bound program in which students live on the UC campus during the summer. I make frequent use of hands-on algebra tools to give students visual, aural and manual input on manipulating algebraic equations. Students see their scores and grades rise. My love of teaching stems from a life-long pursuit of the truth of how things work. As a graduate of the University of California, Irvine (double majoring in math and biological science), I can look back on many exampl [more]

Early on in my life, one class I felt that made sense always was math. I challenged myself and got to the highest math class I could get in, which was Calc BC at my high school. I love helping other students excel in the subject they do not like and try to make it easy for them to learn. I'm currently enrolled to study at UCR this September for computer engineering, so I've been prepared rigoro... [more]
