I have taught and tutored Algebra 2/Math 3/Trigonometry for more than a decade. Whenever possible, I make real-world applications to more deeply teach the subject. Algebra 2/Math 3 is more challenging than Algebra 1/Math 1 and follows Geometry/Math 2 so in order to receive a top grade in the class, I always tell my students to spend twice as much time on their studies and to review foundational concepts such as combining fractions, operations with negatives and factoring polynomials as often as possible. Teaching mathematics, I aim to convey to my students the thrill of discovery that comes with true understanding. To do mathematics effectively is to learn actively, through some degree of struggle and trial-and-error. Otherwise, mathematics remains a disjointed jumble of intimidating facts, easily forgotten and never appreciated. I meet students with varying skill levels, mathematical backgrounds, and academic goals, and I tailor my lessons accordingly. I bring out hands-on materials when... [more]
