As an Engineer, I found math to be my most valuable tool, including several topics taught in Algebra 2 and College Algebra. As a math teacher, I've worked with several Algebra 2 and College Algebra students from many Sonoma county high schools and colleges, and online courses. While the Algebra curriculum is differs between schools and teachers, I work with each student to develop their math skills within the framework of the Algebra course they are taking. I'm a retired engineer and math teacher with a love for teaching anyone who wants to learn. As an engineer, I regularly used all levels [more]

I am a graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I have been tutoring and teaching math and the sciences now for several years. I am passionate about science, and communicating that passion to others. My teaching strategy is a combination of various elements. I am a big believer in the idea that the best way to learn is to teach. To that end, I ask many questions to encourage the student to teach me what they know a... [more]

I'm Dami! I am a current student at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in both economics and mathematics. I started in 2014, and will be graduating in 2019. Throughout my time in college, I've volunteered with a tutoring organization, City Faces at WashU, that provides free tutoring for underprivileged youths in the St. Louis area. Throughout my three years of working with this organization, I've discovered my passion for teaching, and am currently in the process of applying to grad... [more]

Hello, I'm Brandis. I hold a Bachelor and Master degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Not only do I have experience as a classroom teacher, but I also have a lot of experience in tutoring and private teaching. In the past, I have tutored math, music, reading, organization, and... I have a Masters in Mathematics and am a former mathematics instructor at Sonoma State University. I have taught college algebra there as well as tutoring it privately for many years. I have a Masters in Mathematics and am a former instructor at Sonoma State University. I like to keep things simple. Instead of presenting the student with a parade of ideas, I help the student to see each new topic as simply a new expression of ideas they already know. At the end, the student sees all of algebra as essentially an expression of these first few ideas. I find this approach makes learning much muc [more]

I have tutored for many years for the simple reason that I enjoy it and somehow have the knack for making the difficult seem easy. I am a very positive person and feel people learn best with encouragement. Attitude and self confidence are often as important in the learning process as the skill set. I tutor all levels of math, high school physics and Latin. For the past twelve years I have tutored all aspects and sections of the SAT extensively. I tutor the SAT one on one or in small groups.... I have a MSc in Physics and my research experience is in astrophysics. Spanish is my native language. I started tutoring since I was in third year in college, my dad (who's also a physicist) worked as a teacher for 40 years so I guess I inherited his passion for teaching. The first student I had, a middle school student, who used to fail math every year, and then his mom contacted me and we started working together, by the end of the year he was one of the best students of his class and now h... I have over 15 years of experience as a technical writer and over 8 years as a tutor in math, computer science and engineering. As a writer, I know that clear, concise explanations are critical for learning. As a tutor, I make sure my explanations are not only clear and concise, but are presented in a step-by-step fashion that the student can easily understand and follow. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University and a CSET credential for Geomer... [more]

Of the many different types of math we learn in school, algebra is one of the more important ones because algebra problems appear on everything from college entrance exams to the GRE and MCAT. Furthermore, an increasing number of college degrees and certificates require you to take algebra. Although it can be a challenge at first (it's a completely new way of looking at math!), I believe everyone can succeed and do my best to teach to way each student learns. I love seeing things "click" for my students and, better yet, the pride and self-confidence they feel that comes along with their succes [more]
