I have taught Algebra I, Algebra II, and Precalculus in the high school setting, and have tutored students preparing for the ACT and SAT. I use a wide variety of tools and methods to help different styles of learning, and make sure that you understand one concept before moving on to the next. I have always loved learning, and I want to share that experience with my students. After spending 16 years as a professional scientist in the field of medicine, I have decided to focus on helping my children and other students with their academic quest. I can take the pain out of learning new things, [more]

Before retiring I taught Beginning and Intermediate Algebra (in a classroom) over 100 times. I have current lesson plans, practice materials, quizzes and tests and study-skill information that will be helpful to students. I use an individualized interactive student-centered approach to my teaching. Each student's level, ability, strengths and weaknesses are evaluated before we begin. Goals are agreed upon and lessons are prepared to personally accommodate each student. This has been a successful approach for teaching large groups as well as one-on-one. [more]

I have 25 years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics from prealgebra to AP calculus. I have a bachelor's degree in secondary education and a Ph.D. in mathematical sciences. I enjoy teaching students that struggle in mathematics as much as I enjoy teaching students gifted in mathematics. I have 24 years of experience teaching high school and college level mathematics as well as individualized tutoring. I love helping students figure out mathematics. I really struggled at first and I understand that each student thinks about mathematics differently. My goal is to figure out how eac [more]

My name is Jerry and I've been tutoring all levels of HS and college Math and Physics for the past 7 years. I enjoy helping students, and my students like the way I explain hard to understand concepts in Math and Physics. I believe in a "simplistic" approach to teaching Math and Physics. I strive to teach Math and Physics without a lot of theoretical jargon and I teach a methodical approach to solving problems. While at the University of Arizona, I majored in Nuclear Engineering; I have a... [more]

I tutored after school for my last two years in High School. While I was attending University of Central Florida, I also did online tutoring specifically for math subjects. I know that I can teach this difficult subject in the simplest ways. Everyone I have helped told me they were surprised at how easy it is once I explain it to them. I love that I am able to teach a subject that seems difficult to most. I really want to get back into tutoring partly because I know the best way to lea... [more]

Greetings, Personal development is a process that occurs at every stage of one?s life and allows one to realize a potential that arises within the heart of our boldest dreams. Tutoring offers a profound level of engagement, wherein both the student and the tutor define and refine goals along their pursuit of excellence. I agree with Howard Gardner?s conclusion that there are multiple learning styles, yet seek to define an accurate means to appeal to a student?s learning style in a man... [more]

Algebra 2 is a continuation of Algebra 1 that covers multiple equations and graphing. I have taught at the University of Phoenix for over 14 years in Computers, Financial Planning, Information Technology and Algebra I and II. I use handouts for my students that help to solve Algebra problems much easier and will always come to the correct solution on how to solve polynomials. I love to graph and show the student that there are only 4 formulas to remember to graph any problem, even with multiple equations. [more]

I obtained an A in Algebra, have taken upper division algebra as well, and use it for my research. I have my associates degree in chemistry, and am going for my bachelors of science in chemistry with a minor in environmental studies. I have some (though not a lot of) freelance tutoring experience. My tutoring style includes make-shift visualization of the material and step-by-step mathematical proofs with conceptual understanding in mind. I have some lab experience, and whenever appropriate, I will use my data from these labs as examples of how conclusions are made in science.... [more]
