As a biochemist, algebra is a common part of the day and I use it regularly. Not only am I familiar with the concepts of advanced algebra, I'm also capable of applying them to real world settings and problems. I also have teaching experience in a college setting in which the students had very diverse math backgrounds (some almost no algebra at all) but their success in the class required them to become proficient with more advanced algebra, not only in the abstract but also in real settings. I have had a successful career in the academic science field, studying, researching, and tutoring in ch [more]

A class to help hone the skills that you will need to build toward higher math and understanding the world around you. I have taught Algebra through Pre-Calculus for 5 years and tutored all levels of college math for 4 years. I enjoy helping a student see the fun and excitement in learning that he or she can be good at math. Many times there are several ways to reach a solution to a math problem. I help a student find their best route.... [more]

Hi, I?m Andrew! I received a Bachelor's degree and graduated with distinction from the University of Colorado Boulder. I was a double major in Biochemistry and Integrative Physiology and completed a certificate in public health. For me, the most rewarding feeling in school was finally understanding a difficult topic. Once a subject ?clicked,? everything before then made sense, and everything after came much easier. Sometimes these ?clicking moments? came naturally and early in a course, but o... [more]

I am a certified mathematics teacher in both Colorado and NJ with several years of classroom and tutoring experience. Prior to teaching, my professional background was in finance, banking, and information technology. From a teaching and tutoring standpoint, I am always patient and encouraging. I am proficient in Algebra 2, and a number of it's principles. As a student in high school, I covered it's most basic concept: properties of polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions to include their graphs and inverses. I also applied the properties of functions in order to solve systems of equations. In this time, I mastered algebraic fluency by reviewing factoring techniques, simplifying rational expressions, and solving equations. As a consequence, I have handled problems which require a greater depth of thinking and problem solving than those encountered in most Algebra courses. [more]

I teach honors-level algebra 2 in the classroom to many students. I have also tutored students in the subject regularly after school. Students have reported increased skills and positive learning outcomes after taking my class in this subject. My tutoring method is inquiry-based and consists of asking the students questions to draw out pre-existing knowledge, then refining the questions to isolate which specific steps in the problem-solving process are causing confusion. I am an experienced high school math teacher and tutor who has worked with students from 6-12th grades, having taught or [more]

I am a recent Regis University graduate who has completed relevant coursework in algebra 2. My passion for tutoring started my freshman year of college when I spent two days a week working with children at the Boys and Girls Club of America. I specialized in tutoring Science, Math, English, and Reading. Whatever they were struggling with, I was happy to help. During my sophomore year I was selected to be a Biology lab teaching assistant. As a TA I was expected to professionally help out with any questions or issues students had in the lab while maintaining proper safety procedures. ... [more]

I will have an associate's degree in Mathematics in May 2012. I took pre-algebra, algebra I and II, trig, and Calculus in high school and have used what I learned in those classes for many others. I have helped friends with these two subjects and I feel like I explain things very well. I have had a very good tutor who has helped me with upper level math and science courses. The way he explains things to me always clears up any sort of problems I am having with the subject and it is from him t... [more]

I have a PhD from Colorado State University. I have years of experience teaching students from both ends at the college level in general chemistry labs, general chemistry recitations, and analytical chemistry labs. I have the most experience teaching chemistry. I have always told my students that not everybody was meant to be a chemist, but there are some pretty cool lessons that can be learned from chemistry that can be applied to everyday life. As part of teaching, I usually held office ... [more]

Hello, My name is Jackie. I have a degree in elementary education and a minor in mathematics K-8.
