My goal is to teach my students *how* to learn so they no longer need to rely on me. In addition to three Clear California Teaching Credentials (Math, English, and Multiple Subject), I have many years of experience as a teacher. My primary love is language, but I consider that to include math. As Mrs. B., my high school algebra teacher said, "Math is the universal language." I have experience tutoring English, geometry, algebra, AP-Euro, AP-US, AP-English, and test prep for PSAT, SAT, ACT, ... [more]

I began tutoring in August, 2015, at a learning center in the East Bay. The center specializes in tutoring youngsters from Korea, assisting them in learning English, as well as helping them with a few other school subjects. I have greatly enjoyed working with first graders through high schoolers and been impressed by how disciplined, hard-working, and curious they are. I have worked with students to improve their reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, pronunciat... [more]

Dave, born in Toronto, Canada, received his music education at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He began putting his poems to music and this led to his migration to California to seek recognition as a songwriter. He played with several music acts in the Bay Area in the 1970s/1980s and composed scores for the theater. Following the muse of poetry and fiction writing, he went to San Francisco State University and earned Creative Writing (English) degrees (B.A. Summa Cum Laude,?93, M.A. 1995). ... [more]

I also address test taking strategies such as eliminating incorrect answers, substituting possible answers, and statistical analysis of answered versus unanswered questions. Hello students! I'm Drew. I know I can help you learning mathematics, chemistry, physics, and music. I'd lik [more]

I am a tutor with advanced degrees and years of experience, but what matters most to me is the students I teach. I have experience with different grade-levels from middle school and high school to those taking college courses. I never give up until we create the success the student needs. So many standardized tests are required these days ? CAHSEE, PSAT, SAT I and SAT II subject tests, ACT and the many Advanced Placement tests [AP Literature, AP History, AP Chemistry, AP Math, AP Physics, ... [more]

Hi students and parents, My name is Cyrus. The ASVAB is probably the most comprehensive test I've encountered. Other than a few direct math problems, however, most of the questions revolve around a knowledge of English comprehension and reasoning. Clearly, a knowledge of auto mechanics and science is a great help, but some of the answers can be figured out through logic -- assuming understanding of the question and possible answers. In that sense, it's much like the GED. While not an expert in science and mechanics (my son is a mechanic), I know enough to help. More importantly, I know how to take and teach this type of test so that a [more]
