After 17 years of teaching English in the Los Angeles area,, I have opted to do one-on-one tutoring instead. I find it very rewarding. I am amazed at how quickly a student progresses once his or her deficiencies are discovered and remedied. Plus, the gains in self-confidence and love of learning are readily apparent. There is truth to the old saying, "A stitch in time saves nine." I hear so many heart-warming success stories from young adults who experienced tutoring at some crucial poi... [more]

I have more than 15 years of experience in tutoring students of all ages and levels of education from elementary to graduate school. I am most interested in changing the way my students perceive themselves when approaching math. Throughout the years, I have had the most rewarding experience when my students, besides turning their grades around, feel empowered to the point they become a math resource to their classmates. I take my classes very personally and work together with parents to ident... [more]

I took the qualification test to tutor ASVAB and it was very similar to the SAT or CBEST tests that I have helped many students pass. It requires general knowledge and common sense as well as the ability to solve word problems in math. It is rewarding to help people get through these tests so that they can continue on with their careers or fields of interest. I have been tutoring for 19 years. I started out at Goldenwest college in their math/computer lab and also their music department since I have degrees in both music and computer science with a minor in math. The U.S. Department of Defense developed the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) in 1968. The ASVAB measures an individual's developmental abilities and helps predict academic and occupational success in the military. Although the ASVAB has eight sections, your scores in four critical areas will determine whether you're qualified to enlist in the armed forces. Your scores in the other areas will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses. Arithmetic Reasoning The second part of the ASVAB is Arithmetic Reasoning. Th [more]

There are eight different areas tested for in the ASVAB exam. I perform a diagnostic test first to determine where the student is at BEFORE jumping into to the process of re-learning. This exhibits faster and more long lasting results than with out it. I am former military and have a great deal of experience with these subject areas. You can rest assured that the student will be up to speed in a short period of time. My name is James and I have a great variety of knowledge of many subjects including computers, English, writing, electronics, religion (Christian) and real estate (California). I [more]
