I have been tutoring and teaching since I entered college. As a civil engineer I had to be great at Physics, Math, Statics, Mechanics Of Materials, Soil Mechanics. I have the experience of teaching all these subjects in private and group classes. After taking a job as a civil engineer, I continued teaching as tutor after work because this is really something I enjoy doing. Teaching somebody else and copying all the knowledge you have about that subject into his mind. Besides the mentioned sub... [more]

A teacher with 30 years' experience - From Algebra to AP & IB

I have tutored for the ASVAB. My background in Mathematics and Science enhances my knowledge of the specific material that is included in the ASVAB. My experience as a tutor and teacher for 30+ years also keeps me aware that the needs of each individual may be different, and focusing on each person's background is critical. My work has been successful. I love my work. I have been a teacher of math for over thirty years. During those years I have tutored from the young to the IB and AP Calculus students with great success. I have also taught all courses, adapted to changes, and was chosen as a [more]

UCSD grad, credentialed English teacher, published author, editor

The ASVAB is probably the most comprehensive test I've encountered. Other than a few direct math problems, however, most of the questions revolve around a knowledge of English comprehension and reasoning. Clearly, a knowledge of auto mechanics and science is a great help, but some of the answers can be figured out through logic -- assuming understanding of the question and possible answers. In that sense, it's much like the GED. While not an expert in science and mechanics (my son is a mechanic), I know enough to help. More importantly, I know how to take and teach this type of test so that a [more]
