One of Wyzant's top tutors! I am an excellent ASVAB tutor and AFQT tutor. I have tutored other candidates for this exam and all have been successful in passing with a great score. I have also tutored ASVAB candidates who desired to improve their score to get into the Special Forces. All those candidates were successful after I tutored them. I first focus on making sure the student is prepared for the AFQT (qualifying test) in the 4 core area subjects of (English vocabulary, comprehension, math word problems and arithmetic knowledge). I make sure my students are strong in all aspects of t [more]

We will go over each topic on arithmetic reasoning and mathematical knowledge. You need to know how to get and choose the correct answers. To do this, you have to practice the similar problems. I will work with you together and help you to achieve high ASVAB scores. I love to help students to learn math. Each student is different, so I often adjust my teaching method for each individual. I always try to stimulate my student?s interest in math learning. The interest mainly comes from having confidence in math, so my purpose is to build my students? confidence in math. I have worked with many students on test prep and have had success getting scores up. I have had students who I tutored the ASVAB exam get stationed in Hawaii. I have an undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Mathematics and Statistics with a Finance Cognate. I helped run the Math tutoring lab for almost 5 years, and have been tutoring for longer than that, having worked for 3 different companies before I started my own business. Having tutored many students in mathematics, I have covered subjects including Algebra and Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics. Bringing a positive a [more]

Hello, I have been a teacher for over 15 years and I have worked in both religious schools and public schools. I have given seminars to parents of home schooled children on how to teach their children how to read and write. The last time that I gave the state exam to my first graders, they scored the highest in Language Arts out of seven other classes and they came in second place for math. I enjoy teaching and sharing my love of learning with my students. Over the course of my teachi... [more]

My experience with entrance exams includes but is not limited to having taken (and scored competitively on) the SATs, SAT IIs, AP exams, MCAT and more. I currently tutor GRE students as well as many other subjects but have found typically students struggle with the math analysis sections of these exams which is what I try to focus on helping the student confidently learn! The ASVAB is a placement exam... the math analysis, along with English, electrical/electricity, General science and more, will help determine the types of jobs for which you qualify upon acceptance into the military. I took the qualification test to tutor ASVAB and it was very similar to the SAT or CBEST tests that I have helped many students pass. It requires general knowledge and common sense as well as the ability to solve word problems in math. It is rewarding to help people get through these tests so that they can continue on with their careers or fields of interest. I have been tutoring for 19 years. I started out at Goldenwest college in their math/computer lab and also their music department since I have degrees in both music and computer science with a minor in math. I taught math at Coastline Co [more]

The U.S. Department of Defense developed the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) in 1968. The ASVAB measures an individual's developmental abilities and helps predict academic and occupational success in the military. Although the ASVAB has eight sections, your scores in four critical areas will determine whether you're qualified to enlist in the armed forces. Your scores in the other areas will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses. Arithmetic Reasoning The second part of the ASVAB is Arithmetic Reasoning. Th [more]

I have taught/tutored for 7 years. I was both a student and graduate assistant at CSULB where I attained a B.S. in Mathematics and a M.S. in Statistics. I have experience tutoring in all mathematics subjects up to and including graduate-level material. I have a massive amount of experience in tutoring almost all of the subjects that I'm qualified to teach or tutor. Thus, it is very difficult to find another tutor who has as much experience in tutoring algebra, geometry, trigonometry, proba... [more]
