I have earned an associates degree in math while I was attending Mira Costa College. I finished top of my class in Calc 1 and Calc 3. I have tutored many students in differential, integral, and multivariable Calculus and am fluent with the material. My main area of expertise is mathematics but I am available for tutoring physics as well. I have a degree in math. I was top of my class in calculus 1, calculus 3 and linear algebra. I have studied physics extensively, 3 semesters at a university level which encompassed everything from kinematics and motion to electricity and magnetism to relativit [more]

I have been teaching Physics for the past 5 years and I truly love it. Before that, I tutored it for 4 years. In college I chose Physics as my major because I enjoyed it and it made sense to me. I decided to tutor it because I wanted others to see the same things. My goal, still, is to show my students that Physics is not hard and can be fun to learn. I have taught at large public schools and small private ones. I am not limited to Physics though, I have also taught Algebra, Algebra II ... [more]

I have a lot of professional experience tutoring this subject. For many years, I worked at a math tutoring center, and I was commonly asked for help with all classes in the Calculus sequence. I have become very well versed in this material, and experienced tutoring it. I can tutor all levels of Calculus, from the basics like integrals and derivatives, through more complex subjects like related rates, line and path integrals, and even vector calculus, with partial derivatives, Green's theorem, Stokes' Theorem, and so on. For over ten years, I have been assisting students with Mathematics. My goal is not simply to help students find solutions to math problems; my mission is to increase my student's confidence, understanding, and appreciation in regards to mathematics. I come with a background in Mathematics and Psychology that allows me to understand student's learning styles and studying behaviors to properly provide math instruction at my student's level. When you or your child needs assistance with simp... [more]

I was a teaching assistant for the UCSD Math 20C when I was a graduate student in Fall 2016. As part of this appointment, I had to spend 2 hours weekly in the Calc Lab, helping students who come in seeking help. While that is mostly for the earlier parts of the 3, 10, and 20 series, I am still able to help in classes like 20D. 20E, and 18. I have experience as a high school Science Olympiad coach, a high school tutor for physics and math, and a teaching assisant for physics and multivariable calculus at the university level. I like to take an "inverted pyramid" approach, in which I emphasize a [more]

I'm a college professor with 25+ years of experience teaching mathematics and computer programming. My favorite subjects include precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, optimization and numerical analysis. I believe the only way to learn mathematics or computer programming is by working through many exercises and problems. There's no way around this. It doesn't matter how well a lecture is presented or how good the teacher is. If you don't do the work yourself, you'll probably not succeed. ... [more]

I am a certified California teacher with a Multiple Subject Credential and Single Subject Credentials in Mathematics and English with ESL authorization. I have been a private tutor for several years and have had students and parents tell me that I was the first tutor that made a difference in their education, that helped them to understand difficult concepts and/or fully prepared them to take an important exam. I have worked with students who speak English as a second language and student... [more]

To prospective students: Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Amorsolo, "Amor" for short. I have tutored at schools and homes with small groups of 5-7 students and one-on-one for 7 years. The areas that I specialize in are math and science. I do tutor other subjects with the exception of English and history. I enjoy tutoring and helping people learn about things. To me, there is nothing better then working with individuals learn something and finally seeking them have that "AHA"... [more]

Background: I graduated from UCSD with a Master's in Electrical Engineering. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate engineering and science classes. I have been tutoring part time for the past 3-4 years. I mainly tutor high school and undergraduate math and high school physics. Teaching/Tutoring Method: For the most part, I try to focus on helping the student understand the concepts. I have an excellent understanding of the subject and I can break it down to th... [more]

I took First Semester Calculus in Summer of 2009. I failed. I quickly learned that some subjects need to be mastered. While I still have some difficulties, I will try my best to convey this during sessions. A California native, I have served the San Diego and Santa Cruz areas for eight years as an independent one-on-one tutor to students of all ages. My tutoring experience started with a volunteer opportunity at Calvary Chapel Oceanside, where I helped students from kindergarten to fifth grade with various subjects (reading comprehension, mathematics, writing). I soon received my first job as [more]
