I worked as a teaching assistant for calculus 1, 2 and 3 at University of Houston while I was working on my master's degree in mathematics. In recent years I have tutored many high school and college students at all levels of calculus. I am very familiar with this subject. My strength is I can explain difficult concepts from different angles. I can design practice problems on the fly to help my students to reinforce certain concepts. I hold a master's degree in mathematics from University of Houston and a master's degree in electrical engineering from a prestigious university in China. I [more]

Prerequisite math courses, calculus, and circuits are only the first courses in a long series of my coursework. I have multiple electrical engineering degrees and took several mechanical engineering courses, then applied these courses in diverse industry applications. I have recently tutored multiple college students in calculus. I am a Software Engineering Fellow with a Doctor of Engineering degree who specializes in applying theory and mathematical concepts to practical applications. My objective in every tutoring session is to help students become familiar with the fundamental concepts, t [more]

Calculus has been notoriously obtuse since George Berkeley complained of "the ghosts of departed numbers" in 1734, probably because it challenges our intuitions of infinity. Having taken several graduate courses in real analysis (sometimes called "Advanced Calculus") and conducted mathematical research that frequently involves taking limits of exotic objects, I'm familiar with the machinery under the hood of Calculus. I've approached calculus from several angles, so I can explain the paradoxes as they come up in a variety of ways, tailoring them to a student's individual thinking. I've also [more]

I have always had a strong passion for math and music and I love to share that passion with other students. One of my goals as a tutor is to help each student acquire a stronger grasp on the concepts associated with each subject so that he or she can use those building blocks to understand higher level concepts in the future. I also try to develop a relationship with each student so that we can work as a team to find the best method of teaching for him or her. In the 2015-16 school year, I ... [more]

Dear prospective student, Solving the problems is just half of the objective of a tutoring session. The most important thing is learning how to come from the basic principles (from lectures and notes) to the solution of each problem. With the ability to do that, you can solve similar problems on your quizzes, lab reports, tests, exams (SAT, SAT 2). If you have problems in Biology, General Chemistry, General Physics, Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I and II, I could be a resource for you. G... [more]

I have tutored calculus with great results from a variety of different achievement levels. For my mathematics degree, I took four levels of calculus. I have also had to apply the concepts to real-world applications. I am a former NC math teacher that relocated to the Dallas area for a Ph.D. program in Education at a local university. I have previously taught high school math and math to ESOL students. Tutoring is fun because it allows teachers to actually obtain an individual understanding of how students learn. I like to make math relevant but also make connections between other mathematic [more]

Calculus! While some people enjoy the class, or at least don't struggle much, others panic at the mere name! If that's you, or if you've just fallen behind and need a little help, I can help you! Calculus is where I really got my start volunteer tutoring, helping friends and classmates get through the class in college. Where does the dx go when you integrate? How do you know what to do when you're shown a string of symbols and told to "solve"? What do these problems and solutions mean? I can help you with these and so many other calculus questions! Whether you need an in-depth understa [more]

I am a soon-graduating medical student at UT Southwestern (class of 2018), who is currently applying to neurology residencies. I also completed a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Biology (class of 2014) at the University of Texas at Dallas, graduating summa cum laude. During my undergraduate years, chemistry was my passion, and I love connecting with students and helping them gain the same appreciation and understanding of the world at the molecular level. I also love all types of math and... [more]

Preface: The majority of my tutoring experience has been focused on math, which explains my current free response talking mostly about math. However, I am reviewing previous coursework in physics and chemistry and am available to tutor those subjects at the high school and college levels. I have loved math since I was a child. I aced my math courses throughout school and was eventually selected to attend the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, a two-year residential program for gifte... [more]

I am a senior studying Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am comfortable helping students of all ages excel in Math, Chemistry, and Biology. I am a firm believer that each person has a unique learning style, and I will work with you to uncover your learning style and make you a confident student. I am very passionate about learning and helping others achieve their academic goals. My approach to helping students is to teach the student how to analyze the problem and recognize th... [more]
