Calculus is my favorite course to teach! I have been teaching calculus for about 9 years and have a LOT of success stories! I focus a lot on theory as this is the most important aspect of calculus and it's the most fundamental tool to solve any of the problems. I also do a lot of practice problems and make problems up that tend to show the various ways in which a concept can be applied. I try to tie it as much as possible to something of interest for each particular student and do my absolute best to keep things from getting boring. I think that these tutoring sessions go by the fastest and st [more]

Hello! My name is Jorge and I am a California native that came to the University of Iowa back in the 2012 Fall. I have decided to stay in Iowa because I absolutely love it here! I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Human Physiology in the Spring of 2016. While at Iowa, I took courses in other disciplines such as Art History, Spanish, Math and Music. I currently work as a scientist for a biotechnology company in Coralville. Although I am currently a scientist, I have returned to schoo... [more]

Hello to all my new neighbors in Cedar Rapids! My wife, 3 kids, and I recently moved to Marion from the Portland, Oregon area because she was offered a great job at a local hospital. We couldn't wait to get back to our home state after just a year away. I have tutored over 1000 hours in subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra to College level Statistics and Calculus. At the University of Arkansas, I have been both a teaching assistant and the lead instructor for Calculus 1. Hi! My name is Michelle G. I am a second year graduate student at the University of Arkansas, and I will be graduating with a master's degree in mathematics in May 2017. I am originally from Wisconsin, and received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville in May 2015. After graduating from the U of A, I hope to teach math at either a small university, community college, or technical school. I began tutoring in January 2011 while I was attending [more]

I graduated from Yale University in 2013 with a degree in chemistry and spent six months after that tutoring and running a small business consigning used textbooks. I then made a leap to the consulting world, implementing HR/payroll software for mid-sized companies and using the same analytical skills valuable for math and science before settling down in southeast Iowa. I now manage the HR system for a company here and am getting back into tutoring now that I have more free time. I have tuto... [more]

I am a certified high school teacher in chemistry and physics, and I have five years of experience tutoring at the college level. I've also worked for a few months tutoring online, and while it's better in person, it's still fun over the internet. I think what I like best about tutoring is showing others the matrix of life - the way our world fits together. math and science are the building blocks of how we understand life in the West, and there is very little that is as rewarding as watc... I have 3 years of experience tutoring at the high school level. When I was in high school I tutored freshmen and sophomore students as part of a tutoring organization at the school. We would help keep students on track and help improve their understanding of the material while also giving the the tools that would help them study effectively in the future. I would love to continue my experiences with tutoring by offering my service online. I have a strong background in chemistry, I took hig... [more]
