I have been tutoring for 6 years in everything from basic algebra up through calculus 3. For calculus 1 specifically I have been a TA for 4 years. I am currently a CRLA certified level 3 math tutor and have graduated with a Bachelor's in Computer Science. I have been tutoring for over 7 years now on most math subjects from Pre-Algebra up through Calculus 3. I have done TA jobs where I hold sessions for groups of students to give them extra practice on their course material and help to answer any questions that they might have, I have tutored for several years at an on campus math lab and I hav [more]

Calculus is a basic skill required for a real understanding of most of the hard sciences, especially physics. I use the material taught in calculus courses on a daily basis. I am a senior graduating this fall with a double major in physics and math from the University of Houston Clear Lake. I am an active participant in the UHCL Astronomy Club and president of the Physics Club. I speak fluent Norwegian and English. I started tutoring seven years ago. My tutoring experience includes working for Numberworks 'n' Words in the United Arab Emirates and volunteering with Junior Achievement here in T [more]

I taught AP Calculus (AB and BC) in high school for 15 years; a very high % of my students earned AP credit. I also taught Calculus I, II, and III in college. I think my strength is teaching the mathematics in ways students understand. That often takes several different approaches for Calculus. I also taught pre-requisite courses and can work to remedy any gaps in student learning that might cause difficulty in Calculus. I love math and helping students understand and apply what they are learning. I taught high school and college mathematics for more than 30 years and have tutored student [more]

I probably tutor this course more than any other. Calculus is basic to any study of more advanced math, so plan to study hard and get a good foundation in it! If you go on and take Differential Equations or other, more advanced subjects you will thank yourself and avoid lots of difficulty (and tutoring!) if you get a good foundation in Calculus. I do tutor more advanced courses, and I know what you will need for them. Ask all the questions you want; I am glad to answer them and I will never make you feel like you shouldn't have asked. Students have trouble with Calculus both because of th [more]

I have an advanced degree in mathematics which includes calculus and many applications thereof. I have tutored many students in calculus for ten years now. I am a mathematics tutor with a Master's of Science in Applied Statistics and a PhD in Statistics. I have 10 years' experience tutoring in math (not counting helping out friends in high school). My goal is always to find the root of the lack of understanding that a student has and to work to correct it, and then later on continue to provide reinforcement to those ideas. I look forward to working with you. NOTE: I cannot tutor UIW students [more]

"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning do to do afterward." - Kurt Vonnegut The relationship between the student and tutor is so important for student success. By creating an environment of acceptance, making progress becomes easier. I have taught 6-13th grade Math for 15 years including Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, College Algebra, and College Pre-Algebra. Additionally... [more]

I took Calculus as an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student. I have applied calculus in my graduate studies and in my career as an engineering consultant. I have written a book on calculus - "Essential Calculus with Motivational Problems." I love to share "Aha" moments with my students! I have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston. I taught both classes and labs while a graduate student and continued to teach Electrical Engineering at UH for 14 years after graduation. I am proud of the high scores I earned in the student evaluations that were administered by [more]

Howdy! I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Master's degree in Mathematics. I am a college instructor. I enjoy teaching students, and I strive to help them understand the subject. I believe that there are many different ways to explain a given subject, and I do my best to keep trying until I find the best method for each student.... [more]

Calculus is everywhere and yes, even Statistics. My graduate studies consisted of many deep calculus concepts that relate to Statistics: (Stochastic, Brownian motion, Scholes, etc.) I have a deep understanding of Calculus and have tutored it since my time as an undergraduate. I have a diverse background in Mathematics. I have a Master's in Statistics and a Bachelors in Applied Math. I have taken over 60 college credit hours in Mathematics. During my Graduate studies, one of my duties was to Instruct a developmental math course (35+ students). I have taught Mathematics at college level and s [more]
