Because of my Master's Degree in physics, I have a large amount of practical and academic experience with all aspects of calculus through an undergraduate level and beyond. In addition, I have been tutoring AP and college-level calculus for a long time, so I know the material that is covered very well and can help students understand it. I am very comfortable with limits, epsilon-delta proofs, the formal definition of the derivative, Riemann Sums, the Fundamental Theorems of Calculus, Taylor series, vectors, partial derivatives, Jacobians, multiple integrals, and many other topics. Hello prospective students (and parents, spouses, or loved ones), My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you just enough to let you pass that next exam. I work with my students so that they not only know the material that we are covering, but also so that they understand the meaning of the material, the background behind it, and how to apply it in the real world. This allows for my students to handle those really difficult problems where they have to not just recite what was learned, but us... [more]

Calculus is a vast subject that begins by building on top of algebra and trigonometry by introducing concepts such as limits and infinite series. It then introduces derivatives and later integration. After those concepts are mastered partial differentiation, multivariate integration, differential equations and differential operators are added. Calculus requires strong math skills in foundational math up through the level of trigonometry, and any holes or weaknesses in those areas need to be addressed. [more]

Calculus is the subject that I have tutored the most while at Mt. SAC. I took Calculus I in high school and both II and III at Mt. SAC, with A's in all three courses. The quality professors I had for these courses prepared me for the advanced math classes I took at UC Berkeley. Hello! My name is Hugo, and I am a math and statistics tutor. I earned my Bachelor's degrees in applied mathematics and statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. I have tutored math and statistics at Mount San Antonio College over the course of a spring semester and a summer session, and while there, I too [more]

I have taught/tutored for 7 years. I was both a student and graduate assistant at CSULB where I attained a B.S. in Mathematics and a M.S. in Statistics. I have experience tutoring in all mathematics subjects up to and including graduate-level material. I have a massive amount of experience in tutoring almost all of the subjects that I'm qualified to teach or tutor. Thus, it is very difficult to find another tutor who has as much experience in tutoring algebra, geometry, trigonometry, proba... [more]

First off: Hello, and thank you very much for considering me for your tutoring needs. My name is Mark M., born and raised in La Puente, California. Bishop Amat graduate, Rio Hondo College transfer, and currently one year away from getting my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering major. I have always had a strong attraction to math and sciences, even when I was as young as 7 or 8. I am enrolled in Chemistry that deals with Equilibrium and Kinetics, Physics that emphasizes Statics, and le... [more]

I am about to graduate from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor?s degree in Spanish and a minor in Mathematics. In college, I realized that science especially math was taught more in depth. This is something that helped me understand the conceptual aspects of mathematics very well. I also noticed that professors are always advising to attend office hours and tutoring if needed. As a tutor I try to bring as many learning resources as possible to make the experience enjoyable, of course I am a hand... [more]

As a senior student and interning electrical engineer, I have firsthand experience using Calculus: both in direct engineering applications and theoretical concepts. Additionally, I have 3+ years experience tutoring Calculus and Pre-calculus at my junior college and current College, California State University Long Beach. The best approach to teaching calculus is to illustrate its applications, beginning by teaching the reasons behind its development. Despite its popular opinion of being a difficult branch of mathematics, the main concepts behind Calculus are really quite simple and beautiful. [more]
