This is (by far) my favorite class to tutor. I got to teach AP Calculus AB during my last year as a teacher at Castleberry High School. Hopefully my joy and enthusiasm for the subject will be infectious enough that you begin to love this subject as much as I do! For this class in particular, I recommend group sessions. If you and a friend or two are struggling, I'll reduce my rates and help everyone at the same time. The benefit of these small group sessions is that many times a friend will ask a question you didn't even realize you had! The drawback, of course, is that you don't get the [more]

As a teacher I would first ensure that all the fundamentals of algebra are in place and then move on to Calculus using day to day examples where it is used in a subconscious manner. Once the 'reality' of calculus is accepted it becomes a very interesting subject for the students from where they can take off. 8 years of experience teaching at various levels, 1000+ Successful students, a degree in Engineering and significant practical engineering experience helps me make education REAL. I teach in a manner whereby all the theory that may seem too abstract and 'dry' will turn interesting and rele [more]

I have a B.A. Mathematics, including Calculus, and an M.S. in Quantitative Finance. I am the Math dept chair at a local high school. As a mathematician, I find myself helping people out very regularly with their struggles in this often frustrating subject. I have a real appreciation for seeing people "light up" when they tackle mathematical concepts that they did not understand before our tutoring session. I am a certified high school math teacher and I am the head of the math dept at a local High School. I do not get frustrated with how fast or slow a student learns, but rather focus on ma [more]

I am a certified math teacher, and I have been teaching AP calculus at a private school for six years. I love teaching math, all kinds of math. I am a certified teacher for grades 1-12. I currently teach high school but have taught elementary and junior high in the past. I especially like tutoring small groups or one-on-one. When I taught 4th grade, I told my students to do their best and together we would get them to pass the TAKS test. That year everyone of my students passed the math portion of the the TAKS test.... Have been teaching Calculus to college and highschool students. Major in Mathematics. I graduated the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a minor in business. I always loved teaching students. While studying at college, I had a job of teaching calculus to students and that's when I realized teaching people is something which satisfied me. I realized that a good teacher can shape students' carriers. I try to take different approaches to solve a problem and try to go with the one which goes with the student's ideas. I like my sessions to ... [more]
