I have taught and tutored in many different subjects in various parts of the world. Having benefited from one-on-one and small group instructions myself, I know the value in meeting each student at their level and working with their strengths to generate a command of the subject matter. I don't believe that anyone is "bad" at math or "bad" at English. We all are capable of understanding anything with personalized, careful instruction. I have extensive experience as a TA, as a tutor in math a... [more]

I took advanced calculus in high school and have regularly reviewed the material to develop more accessible ways of explaining this highly technical and very abstract subject. I have taught small groups and individuals for over 20 years, both in school settings and in students' homes or at neutral locations like coffee shops and bookstores. The first three questions I ask myself are "How does this person learn best? What is his or her learning style? How can I help this person learn more effectively?" I have a Master's degree in Special Education from the Johns Hopkins University (in Balti [more]

I have a degree in mathematics which required many calculus classes. I've been tutoring calculus for over 10 years. I have a degree in mathematics from Arizona State University. To get this degree, I had to become an expert in Calculus, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. I took 5 semesters of Calculus, the last two semesters being Advanced Calculus and Differential Equations. The classes were difficult and challenging-- beyond what I learned in high school AP Calculus. I had to become an expert in Calc 1, 2, and 3. I also took Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, Partial Differential Equations, [more]

I have taught calculus for four years -- two years at the University of Rochester, and two years at Ohio State. This also included tutoring calculus for two years at Ohio State. I have taught Calculus I, II, and III; Business Calculus; and Calculus for Engineers. I have a B.S. in Mathematics. I have over four years of experience teaching math and three years of experience tutoring math. I have a Math degree from the University of Rochester and a Computer Science degree from the University of Arizona. I was a Math TA for 2.5 years at Rochester, including two years of Calculus. At Ohio State, I [more]

I first studied Calculus in High School, then kept studying Advanced Calculus, Vector Calculus and Differential Equations - 3 years of University level Calculus courses beyond basic Calculus which I proficiencied out of via the AP Calc Exam. I obtained a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Physics in which I solved many Calculus related Differntial Equations: mainly Schroedinger Equation. I enjoy the challenge of helping today's students solve new calculus problems. The fundamental insight that comes with their solution is often quite enlightening. [more]

I am currently enrolled at the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University. I am currently working on a double BS in psychology and mathematics. I am ultimately striving towards my goal of being a child psychiatrist. I am capable of tutoring many aspects of studies. My strengths lie in math, reading, writing, ballet, and science. I have over six years of experience working as a nanny and have been a consistent homework helper. I also have been tutoring math at my college and work... [more]

I have my Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan and lots of experience in tutoring at a high school and college level. Some of the jobs I have held that have allowed me to gain tutoring experience include: Supplemental Instructor - This job detailed me to hold group study sessions in which I teach good study habits as well as help with the subject I SI for. I have been an SI for: General Chemistry (Monroe Country Community College) Biochemistry (U... [more]

Dear parents and students, my name is Omar and I want to be your math tutor. I am an ASU (Arizona State University) Graduate with a civil engineering degree. I am passionate about teaching and helping students learn mathematics. In this past year I have tutored students from entry college level to up division college math at Glendale Community College. I care about teaching students so they get educated in a fun and exciting way.... [more]

I received a score of 5 on both the AP Calculus AB and BC Test demonstrating an advanced understanding of advanced differentiation, integration, and mathematical application to physics, engineering, and medicine. Hey, I'm Nikhil! I am currently a college student at Arizona State University pursuing undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Neuroscience with an aspiration for the medical field. Through my high school experience, I learned that a great teacher is always behind a great student. I had tried to teach myself a high school-level course and I quickly realized that a teacher or [more]

Many people I speak with have experience tutoring Calculus. It is the most widely required mathematics course in any engineering program at any major University in the nation. Do these tutors really understand what a LIMIT is??? Calculus is the subject of limits, the idea that we can look at a discrete problem and shrink the scale in such a way that a pattern emerges, allowing us to 'guess' at what the limiting behavior 'should be'. Rates of change (speed, velocity, acceleration, etc), all require LIMITS to be understood fully. I've taught Calculus at the University level (both single an [more]
