Calculus is where all the math you have learned in school comes together. Sometimes calculus texts can be hard to understand, so I use online tools to provide extra explanation, practice and assessment of skills through the course. Hi. My name is Mike, and I currently teach mathematics at a private, college preparatory high school. I have also taught math and science at the middle school level. My primary focus is in tutoring students in pre-algebra through calculus and I enjoy working with students at all levels of education from elementary through college. I have successfully tutored studen [more]

Having graduated from the Mathematics and Science program at Ocean Lakes HS in Virginia Beach, and taken multiple engineering classes throughout college, I have had to maintain a high level of competency in calculus. I have taken multiple calculus courses above and beyond the scope of AP Calc, including multi-variable calculus, differential equations, and partial differential equations; and applied the skills from those classes to problem solving in the engineering classes that I have taken. This application has helped to keep my skills sharp and current beyond the math classes themselves. [more]

In addition to my tutoring work over the years, I have a significant technical background in both academic and practical mathematics. I have an undergraduate degree in theoretical physics, for which I took three courses of calculus, differential equations, and mathematical physics (mostly tensor analysis). Additionally, I acquired a masters degree in nuclear engineering, which required study in complex analysis and linear algebra. In my professional career, I spent four years working closely with professional statisticians to properly characterize measurements of weapons grade nuclear mater [more]

I have a B.S. in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Calculus and Modern Algebra. I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. I have been tutoring for about nine years and have tutored a wide variety of subjects, but my favorite to teach is Math of any sort. I started tutoring my peers in high school, and from there I started branching out and tutoring other high school students in my area. In college, I was an accredited Chegg tutor who also tutored for the Virginia Tech Math department. One of my favorite things about tutoring is what I call the "... [more]

I am Mona, a current graduate student at Texas A & M. I am pursuing a Master's in Public Health. I really love teaching, and I find it really fulfilling to see students suddenly understand things and succeed. It is a great feeling knowing that I was a part of someone's success. . In the past, I tutored many clients in math subject, and they all received high scores in their classes. I love math, but I also know the struggle that comes with understanding how to solve problems. Thankfully, I ... [more]

I've always loved mathematics ever since I was in elementary school: it just came naturally to me, and I've always enjoyed tutoring, so combining the two is like a dream. Although I am a new professional tutor, I did tutor in various school subjects in high school as part of the National Honor Society, and I really enjoyed helping struggling students raise not only their grades, but their motivation and self-esteem. Becoming successful in school is a feeling like no other. I can't wait to hel... [more]

I enjoy tutoring even more than teaching math at the university level. One-on-one students learn so much faster, because I can explain things in a way that make the most sense for that particular student. I have been teaching math at the university level for four years. I have been tutoring high school and college level students for over ten years. The overwhelming majority of students happily report that I explain things very well. I am an amazing tutor for several reasons: I am eag... [more]

Hi, there! I'm Robert, and I'm a Tidewater Community College Engineering alumni, currently pursuing dual degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering! I love teaching and tutoring, not only for the satisfaction of seeing my students succeed, but also in learning how my students approach problems and think about them. With more than 4 years of official tutoring experience in the community college system, as well as numerous free-lance tutoring jobs, I've worked with a variety of students; hig... [more]

My teaching strategies will guarantee you success in Calculus. I am VA, PA, and NC certified to teach Mathematics grades 6-12. I currently teach Algebra 2/Trig and Algebra 1 at a local high school in Virginia Beach. Other subjects I have taught include Calculus, Statistics, Function and Data Analysis, Trigonometry, Algebra 2 Honors, Geometry Honors, and Pre-Algebra. I am among the top in-person calculus tutors in the greater Washington DC / Baltimore area, while also doing online tutoring for several years on Wyzant and other platforms. (Not to mention that I am a Jeopardy winner, too!) I have helped dozens of students in person and many more online with calculus problems, including differential and integral calculus of a single variable (i.e. AP AB/BC), including limits, differentiation and integration techniques, word problems, and series. Please let me know if I can be of some help, and we can discuss how to set up a session at your preferred time. [more]
