Four of my teaching years at UT were in calculus. I'm especially systematic in my approach to calculus I, and calculus II was my favorite class to teach. I am a recent graduate of UT with a Ph.D. in mathematics, with six years teaching experience. I taught a lot of calculus at UT, so I'm pretty familiar with those classes. I am still in Knoxville a few months more and just enjoy helping folks with math! I've tutored on and off for years, helping every age from 6th grade, to college. I also tutored for one semester in UT's athletic center before starting at UT. It's very important to me not j [more]

I am a full-time professional tutor with a great deal of experience in both individual and group atmospheres. My tutor expertise includes math (Pre-K to Calculus), English (concentrating on essay composition, sentence structure, grammar, reading, and language arts), ACT/SAT test preparation, chemistry, economics, and accounting. I also tutor any subject that mainly requires study skills and memorization, such as history, psychology, and biology/anatomy. In addition, I am a study skills/tim... [more]

I tutor Calculus at a local community college and have a minor in math form the University of Tennessee. I have a Ph.D. in physics and calculus is a foundation of the study of physics. I have strong theory skills in this subject as well as applications to more real situations to explain the importance of calculus. I went to school to study physics and ended up getting a Ph.D. in condensed matter physics. After working in applied physics for a while I realized that I really missed the experience of teaching. My goal now is to continue working at Colleges that focus on education and work on crea [more]

I am originally from Pennsylvania, where I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics in 2016 from Shippensburg University as well as completed a minor in Mathematics. I completed 32 credits of math courses despite the minor only requiring 18 credits. I was a tutor in the physics department for 2 years and helped students with homework problems as well as preparing for tests. It is always rewarding to see students succeed in something they thought impossible! I moved to Tennessee to st... [more]

About me: I am currently pursuing a PhD in physics at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I love anything STEM related, and enjoy showing others how cool it can be! I work as a TA for UT, as well as for Wheaton college the last two years. Additionally, I have tutored local high school and college students in science and math for the past year, and I have come to find it greatly rewarding. My philosophy: I can tutor any physics course as well as most math courses that one would encoun... [more]

I understand the mindset and aspirations of students when confronted with challenges in math. I use a narrative based teaching methodology to explain mathematical concepts to students that extends beyond textbook problem solving and is helpful in handling life situations as well. It is my intent to help my students build mathematical instinct by initiating an inquisitive questioning process through an objective dialog. I use contextual learning as my teaching style to help my students draw c... [more]

With an MSc in physics and many years of experience teaching, I'm very valuable as a tutor who can make an impact on my students grades, always. I have a M.Sc in physics, and currently pursuing a PhD. I have over 6 years of teaching and tutoring experience at all levels from middle school up to college-level mathematics and physics. I prefer a direct style of tutoring and teaching, in which I focus on attacking tough problems that the student has difficulties with, and on identifying students' weak points right away, and addressing them. My tutoring style can at times be fast-paced or slow-p [more]

I have a BS in Physics and a minor in Mathematics. I am continuing on to graduate school in the near future. Analytical geometry plays a big role when dealing with multivariate calculus. My name is Joseph. I recently graduated with a BS degree in Physics and have a minor in Mathematics. I am a science nerd and see math as an important tool that can be used in multiple situations. I enjoy playing guitar, reading, being around friends and family, and keeping up with the latest scientific research. I have a Quantum Physics tattoo - Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle to be exact. Why I tutor As long as I can remember, I've been helping students in school. I've spent much of my life as an academic coach -- from correcting my younger brother's algebra homework to editing college essays for high school students -- and I'm currently working for a tutoring company in Knoxville while I complete a graduate degree in applied mathematics. I've been a coach for so long because I enjoy it, but students ask me back because I bring enthusiasm, hard work, and personalized att... [more]

I am a sophomore at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where I am currently pursuing a triple major in Mathematics, Physics, and Business on the pre-med track.
