I've been teaching Calculus 1-3 at the college level. I'm also teaching Calculus at a high school level. I enjoy helping students with calculus. I have a PhD in math. I am a PhD graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). I've been teaching and tutoring mathematics for over 10 years. My strongest personal characteristics in tutoring are that I'm good with children and adults with anxiety or attention deficit disorder, patient with the student, and encouraging. There are objectives that I have when tutoring the student: explaining the material so that the student understands it, bui [more]

Hello, my name is Sybille and I am a senior studying at Mercer University. I am double majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and German. I absolutely love tutoring and have been doing so for over 6 years now. I tutored underclassmen while in high school and I also tutored at Kumon - After School Math & Reading Program and I enjoyed doing both so much! I worked with Tutors - America Reads / America Counts at a local elementary school and at the Boys and Girls Club in Macon. I have al... [more]

I have a passion for math, thus having a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I likewise have a passion to promote learning and education. I have tutored different Mathematics courses since I was a Freshman in college. All of the students I have tutored have success stories. Some of my methods include maintaining a detailed notebook with notes, formulas, and practice/homework problems to help mandate the overall comprehension of the basic skills and foundation for future courses. I am conf... [more]

My approach to teaching and comprehension is basic principles and clear communication of subject matter. It's always good to hear from students and people when they express how they really enjoyed the experience of learning. I am an Electrical Engineering major and just enjoy the principles and concepts of math and science. The best thing in life is to get paid for what you already love doing. And one of my passions is conveying or communicating a seemingly difficult subject or concept ... [more]

I have a PhD in chemical engineering. I give simple examples to explain complex topics. This is the best way for the students to understand the concepts and correlate them to practical problems. It is important that the tutor not only understand the subject, but be able to correlate it to real-world situations, so that the students can understand it better. Often times I have seen that students just remember things without proper understanding of the fundamentals. I think this problem needs t... [more]

Hello! I am a (somewhat recent) graduate from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Mathematics currently working in the financial sector. While in my undergraduate, I became aware that office hours were a necessity with certain subject areas. You see, while class was sufficient to cover the required teaching material, there was simply enough time to ensure that every student was retaining the information the way they should. Much in the same fashion, I believe that having the extra time t... [more]

I taught calculus since 2014 in high school, college students, and Georgia's State Upward bound programs. Many of the students I assist are well please and go into those STEM fields. Calculus is a strong base algebra and trigonometry class. Greetings to you! I'm grateful that you came to me. It all started as me helping my peers or friends with their math work. It has been 8 years and counting since I started teaching mathematics at the high school level. I have taught and tutored several subjects including: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and introductory statistics courses. I [more]

I earned my B.S. degree in Mathematics, which included 5 semesters of Calculus. Since, I have taken refresher courses: Calculus I, II, and III / Univ. of Pennsylvania, 2013. Differential Equations / Gordon State College, 2011. I tutored 3 calculus students weekly for 3 years by special request of Campus Peer Tutoring. An example Calculus 1 problem with solution: Find the first derivative dy/dx for: .......... y = (6x^3)sin x ........... Use the product rule for y = u*v: dy/dx ( u * v ) = u*dv + v*du Let u = 6x^3 and v = sin x du = 3*6x^2 and dv = cos x dy/dx = 6x^3 * cos x + sin [more]
