I have a math minor from Oberlin College, including courses in many higher-level math topics beyond single-variable calculus. I have also worked with numerous high school and college students in calculus classes, including some preparing for the Calculus AB and BC Advanced Placement tests. I graduated from Oberlin College with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and minors in Mathematics and French. My philosophy with helping students stems from what I found engaging and enlightening in my own education - discussion and exploration of ideas. By framing sessions as a conversation more than a traditi [more]

I passed the calc AB AP test with a 4, and the calc BC test with a 5. I was the highest placed student in my calc 3 class in college, and have tutored calculus for 6 years. I was the "go to" tutor for calculus support for being the most proficient at it. My name is Seth. I have loved math every since I was a little kid. It was the subject that always made sense to me and I found fun in the ability to solve problems. This passion that I have is shown in my tutoring style. I try to show how math isn't just a lame subject, but try to show how to be enthusiastic about it. I have tutored almost ev [more]

I studied pure math at Wisconsin - Madison where I tutored calculus at all levels in the university's drop-in Mathlab for a couple of years. I've been doing some private tutoring since graduation. I've also taught a non-credit, first-semester calculus course (independent of any institution, so a labor of love) which was designed to offer more depth but less breadth than a typical course. The course focused on techniques (as usual) and on understanding and appreciating some of the proofs of the techniques. If you're a UW-Madison student in Calculus II, then I can provide exercises to aid in [more]

I have taken four different calculus courses as part of my Electrical Engineering studies. They are differential calculus, integral calculus, multivariable calculus and advanced multivariable calculus. Electrical engineering has given me practice applying the math skills obtained from these classes to real world problems. I also have experience tutoring these subjects from my time working as a lead tutor in Seattle Central Community College's tutoring center. Hello students and/or parents and thanks for checking out my profile! I am an Electrical Engineering graduate from the University of [more]

As an experienced and patient tutor of physics and of math subjects through calculus and college first year linear algebra and differential equations, my great delight is in seeing the "light bulb" of comprehension in my students' faces. These subjects are not as difficult as they often seem to my students before they meet with me. My concrete illustrations and introductory exercises have been highly successful in getting students on track for academic success and in recognizing their own unt... [more]

I was a software engineer at Facebook for 4 years. I received two master's degrees and a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. My degrees are in mathematics and in computer science. While earning my master's degrees, I spent a year as a teaching assistant for a discrete mathematics course and a theoretical computer science course. I've tutored many students both through Wyzant and through other types of networking. Most of my tutoring is for students who've... [more]

Calculus is one of the most enjoyable areas of mathematics, and I have enjoyed teaching people how to use calculus for over 30 years. I have received awards for my work with high school students who wanted to learn calculus. I am patient and believe anyone can learn calculus if they are helped and work hard. I have a Ph.D. in physics and was a double major in mathematics and physics in college. I have over 20 years experience tutoring high school students and have received a Certificate of Commendation from the Governor for my service. I have over 25 years experience teaching physics and mathe [more]

Hello! My name is Vivian and I am currently undergraduate student at Rice University studying mathematical economics with a minor in biochemistry and business. I attended Waunakee High School, graduating Valedictorian of the class of 2017. I received a perfect score on my ACT (superscored) and scores of 5 on a number of AP exams including Biology, English Language and Composition, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Psychology, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics. I began tutoring in math, science... [more]

I am a teacher and instructor with over 7 years in classrooms with students from the 7th grade through college. My students are extremely successful on every high school end-of-course exam and that success continues in their future math classes. Why? We work together to develop intuition, critical thinking strategies, and perseverance. I have training as a SAT instructor as well.... [more]

I've tutored all levels of mathematics to students of all ages, including adults. I believe a solid understanding of mathematics is essential to a well-rounded education, and my goal is not only for the student to be able to successfully complete the problems but to truly understand the reasoning behind the computations. I love working with people and strive to create a comfortable atmosphere where the student is not afraid to ask questions, even if they think it may be a "dumb" question. ... [more]
