"A picture is worth a thousand words." As a visual learner, expect to see fun diagrams, pictures, and relevant analogies/real world applications from me as a tutor rather than paragraphs of text or lines of equations. I believe that all knowledge must be broken down into its simplest components, visualized, and applied before one can achieve mastery. And, once such a level of understanding is earned, it can last a lifetime and be applied in seemingly unrelated subjects. So, I will often a... [more]

I have taught and tutored AP Calculus for almost thirty years (1989-present) with tremendous results and a passion that is infectious among students. My AP exam scores were the highest in Tennessee in eight different years since 2001 and consistently ranked among the best in the nation. The hundreds of students with whom I have worked have averaged a 4.5 on the AP test. I can tutor both the AB and BC levels as well as Calc 2. I have educated and inspired college, high school, and middle school students for twenty five years as a mathematics instructor, specializing in calculus but capable of t [more]

I have a very diverse education comprised of several branches of sciences. My basic degree is in Physics with Mathematics and Chemistry as my ancillary subjects. I also received rigorous training in accounting and business management. I have a Masters? degree in Advanced Physics with specializations in Solid State Physics, Optics and Astrophysics. I continued my education in the field of biophysics/biochemistry and I was awarded a PhD with specialization in Structural Biology of Plants an... [more]

I graduated from Temple University with a 4.0 in my Math minor, which included honors calc I-III. I've also continued to hone my calculus as a PhD student in economics. I'm a current Ph.D. student at Vanderbilt in Economics. I'm finishing my 2nd year, and I have plenty of experience with tutoring, teaching, and helping students learn! In fact, I just won the Rendig Fels Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching for 2017! Even before my graduate career, I was a top student and tutor at Temple University, where I tutored both privately and for the university's official math and science center. [more]

I have worked as a chemistry and math tutor for a few years now, and I would be delighted to help you or your child. Every person learns differently. My goal is to figure out what areas or topics are not sinking in and relay the information in a different way that makes sense for the individual. Sometimes it takes extra attention and trying different approaches to learn complicated subjects such as chemistry or calculus. I try to break down the material into concepts that are easy to understa... [more]

Calculus, in summary, is the language that links distance with velocity and acceleration, circumference with area and volume, and mass with momentum and kinetic energy. My philosophy is that once you understand the purpose of calculus, you will be more in tune with getting the individual concepts that it requires you to learn in differentiation and integration. That is what I can bring to the table. I have engineered spacecraft, and launch vehicles and aircraft. Calculus directly applies to orbit mechanics in space travel as well as aerodynamics for aircraft. [more]

I started organized tutoring in high school, but have helped my peers in their studies since kindergarten (skipping nap time and helping students count by 5s). I am a rising senior at Vanderbilt, and have helped those in and outside my classes. The types of classes I often help my peers in are math (calculus through differential equations and linear algebra) and science (physics and chemistry). I am also very open to tutoring for standardized tests (ACT, SAT, ASVAB, etc.). I am majoring in En... [more]
