I taught Calculus (AP content for both AB and BC), Precalculus, Algebra 2, and Algebra 1 at a non-public school at a one to one teacher to student ratio (up to 8 classes-students at a time). I have also taught Precalculus, Algebra 2, Algebra 1 and SAT Math preparation in traditionally populated public school classrooms. I am capable of filling in gaps in math skills that are prerequisites for Calculus. APPROACH My goal is student understanding, building on a student's existing understanding level and familiar contexts, and looking for ways to help remembrance of procedures/concepts. I will l [more]

I earned the following grades: Calc 1- A; Calc 2- B+; Calc 3- A-. I have an Engineering masters degree, which involved taking a class called ?Mechanical Engineering Analysis? which involved advanced differential equations. Grade in the class: A-. I tutored high school level math my senior year of college focusing on algebra and geometry. I have also taught ice skating lessons for 8 years. I love helping students succeed and watching their progress over the course of working with them. Calculus is another big step in the progression of a math student. Sub-topics such as derivatives, differentiation, and maximization can be very intimidating if it feels like the instructor is moving through them too quickly. Often, the opportunity to work one on one within these concepts - and talk them over until there is a real understanding - makes a huge difference. I have over 20 years experience helping student improve their performance in math courses and standardized tests. I have an BS in Engineering with Math minor and also an MBA but more importantly, I have found that many of m [more]

I am a patient math tutor that loves to challenge people who think "Math is hard." Indeed, math is not the easiest of subjects but once it is PROPERLY explained to a student, it will be much easier to understand. I've taught math after school at the High School level in Queens and tutored students at York College during my attendance there. I've scored on the William Lowell mathematical competition (most people score a zero) the first three years I took it. My goal is to help you fully unders... [more]

Hi! My name is Josh and as a recently-graduated science major (Biochemistry) from the University of Cincinnati, I know all too well the difficulties students face in challenging math and science classes. However, I also know how to excel in courses like these, as evidenced by a perfect 4.0 GPA and Summa Cum Laude Honors upon graduation from UC. Perhaps more importantly, though, is the fact that I have extensive tutoring experience. Whether it's tutoring through school, private tutoring, or ... [more]

As part of my Major in Physics, I studied and made extensive use of the Calculus I learned as an undergrad. I also studied Analysis (Calculus at grad level) in Graduate School. Calculus is an important subject for studying any phenomenon that involve continuous change (whether in Physics, Business, Biology, demography , engineering, etc.) This subject has so many uses and applications it is essential for many careers. I am very familiar with this subject and I can teach you to use it like a pro. [more]
