I scored a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam in high school and have since taken multivariable calculus and beyond. I am a graduate of Tulane University where I received my BS and MS in Neuroscience. During completion of these degrees, I undertook rigorous coursework in mathematics and biological sciences, including courses on the philosophy of science and mathematical modeling. I have extensive tutoring experience and have worked with Sylvan Learning Center, volunteered at local schools as a tutor, and met with students for one-on-one tutoring. I also have a small personal library of education [more]

I have taught and tutored calculus for almost 10 years. I have worked with many students who needed a strong boost to their confidence as well as a desire to improve their grades. Being a Ph.D. math student has greatly improved my math comprehension in all areas, and I can draw from a lot of experience to aid students in their study. I grew up in the Midwest and studied civil and architectural engineering in college, where I helped my classmates with their math problems. I realized it was something I enjoyed doing and started tutoring anyone who needed the help. I liked making people feel comf [more]

Kumon Math and Reading Center was my first tutoring job. Kumon helps students get academically ahead of their peers in their regular schools. Because of this, students have confronted me with Kumon math assignments on material that they have not yet learned in their regular schools. It was my responsibility to teach them these new concepts. I have also worked with ESL and special needs students at Kumon. I have worked with Kumon for three years. I have also been self-employed as a priva... [more]

I have an MS in mathematics from the University of New Orleans. I have mastered calculus at all levels. I am enrolled as a PhD student in biostatistics. I currently hold a Master of Science in mathematics (statistics). My areas of expertise are probability and statistics (particularly biostatistics) , high school math (algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus), college math (pre-calculus and calculus), microeconomics, game theory, and econometrics. The method I have found works best is to have the student try to identify why the class is not going well. Often students get behind and get frustrate [more]

I've always excelled academically, and I have a passion for sharing that experience with others. There is no greater thrill for me than the satisfaction of a job well-done. While completing both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts in a single four-year timespan, I learned the value of hard work, time management, and most importantly, having a fantastic support system. I would not have achieved what I did without the help of my teachers and advisors, and now I want to pass that on to others. M... [more]

I am a crazy mathematics fanatic. I have loved math from age 14 in high school. As a high school student, I breezed through accelerated classes (1/2 year courses) until I was learning calculus as a junior. I started tutoring at age 15 and created a solid business in the Lafayette area. By the time I started college, I realized that teaching math was my passion, and I decided to get a math degree. While in college I continued to tutor. I worked for a tutoring business in Opelousas for ... [more]

My academic career so far involves several courses in math, applied math (including advanced engineering math) and statistics, that contain core and advanced concepts in calculus. I have also tutored students taking Calculus I, Calculus II and Pre-Calculus courses. I am pursuing Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Throughout my academic career so far, I have taken many applied math and engineering math courses that have helped shape my understanding of Mathematics. I have worked as a Math Tutor for the Athletics Department at my university wherein I have tutored students taking various [more]

I have taught both AP Calculus at the high school level and Calculus I at the university level. I have a Masters in Mathematics Education from Southern Arkansas University. I have taught math for over 10 years on a variety of levels. From 5th grade math all the way to university level math, I love teaching the basics as well as algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Math is more than just memorizing formulas; math is about critical thinking and problem solving skills. During my 10+ years of teaching experience, I have helped students raise math ACT scores significantly, imp... [more]

2 years of College Calculus tutoring working with student athletes as well as peers. My name is Barry, and I am a recent graduate of Tulane University. While I was in school, one of the most rewarding experiences for me was working with my peers to find easier ways to explain high level engineering concepts. In fact, several of my classes had a component where we would teach a topic to our class or go to a local high school and tutor. I am passionate about making my students' academic experience a bit easier and more enjoyable. I have a few years of experience working as a... [more]

I am a recent graduate from Tulane University (Class of 2017) with a BS in Mathematics and a BFA in Jazz Studies. I have several years experience tutoring middle school and high school students in math subjects like algebra, geometry, and precalculus, while I also informally helped my peers while in the math program at Tulane. I have found that working one on one with a tutor or teacher is the fastest way for a student to reach understanding and mastery of a topic. I love to help others i... [more]
