I have been accepted in the National Math Olympiad, and have passed 70+ credits of math during eight years of college both undergraduate and graduate. I have been an instructor or teaching assistant in several courses including but not limited to Algebra 1 and 2, Calculus, Differentials, Statistics, Advanced Statistics for engineers, and Time Series. Furthermore, I have instructed students in several programming languages (MatLab, R, SPSS, and Fortran) in accordance with their mathematical pr... [more]

Calculus is where all the math you have learned in school comes together. Sometimes calculus texts can be hard to understand, so I use online tools to provide extra explanation, practice and assessment of skills through the course. Hi. My name is Mike, and I currently teach mathematics at a private, college preparatory high school. I have also taught math and science at the middle school level. My primary focus is in tutoring students in pre-algebra through calculus and I enjoy working with students at all levels of education from elementary through college. I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. I have been tutoring for about nine years and have tutored a wide variety of subjects, but my favorite to teach is Math of any sort. I started tutoring my peers in high school, and from there I started branching out and tutoring other high school students in my area. In college, I was an accredited Chegg tutor who also tutored for the Virginia Tech Math department. One of my favorite things about tutoring is what I call the... [more]

I have had positive experiences teaching growing minds both differential and integral calculus. Many times students have learning difficulties with calculus because some of their algebra is faulty, perhaps they don't understand their teacher, or the class pace is too fast. I always start by evaluating and correcting a student's algebra, then for clarity relate calculus topics back to the algebra and geometry the students have already had. I emphasize easy-to-understand teaching and support the students' homework and preparation for quizzes and tests. [more]

I am a former High School teacher with formal training in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. My tutoring career started early, helping my two younger brothers with their homework, and continued through my school career helping fellow classmates. I am patient with students and am aware and accommodating of students' varied learning styles. I enjoy tutoring because I enjoy the challenge of discovering a student's learning style and presenting material in a form that the student ca... [more]

For twenty years, I have tutored high school and college students in calculus I, business calculus, and AP calculus. As an undergraduate, I was a calculus tutor at Christopher Newport University. I am extremely patient, and I explain complex topics in clear, concise language. Through prompting and challenging questions, I will teach you how to determine limits, find derivatives, evaluate integrals, and more. My objective is to help students comprehend and master the material, not to simply provide answers. I helped an AP calculus student who was not satisfied with her B average elevate it to [more]
