Calculus is a challenging and diverse subject, which calls heavily on skills acquired in previous study of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra. It is also one of the principal mathematical tools used in physics and engineering. With my PhD in physics, I have had to make extensive use of calculus, both in my own studies as well as my lecture presentations. I can draw on my experience to help you gain proficiency in this often bewildering subject. Physics and mathematics can be challenging, but it doesn't have to be painful! With over 10 years teaching and tutoring experience in Physical Sci [more]

The Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education degrees that I received from the State University College at Cortland, New York has served me well in teaching at the high school and college level. Both of the degrees involved a specialization in Secondary Mathematics. Currently, I have certification to teach Math in the states of Florida and New York. Since moving to Florida in 1999, at different times I have taught classes from Developmental Math through Calculus 1. I have tau... [more]

You're probably trying to find a tutor who stands out from the rest. You're looking for someone who knows what she's teaching. In high school Abigail earned the National Merit scholarship through her exemplary SAT scores. She then went on to graduate from the Georgia Tech with a degree in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Economics. She went through college at an accelerated pace of 3 years instead of 4, while maintaining her HOPE scholarship. She even studied abroad in Ireland during tho... [more]

I graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program at my high school as a Magna Cum Laude and now attend the University of Central Florida as an Aerospace Engineering major. I am extremely passionate about space! Along with that comes my love for math. I enjoy helping other people understand this subject because I will learn as much from my students as they learn from me; tutoring helps solidify my knowledge in these areas. I have taken math classes ranging from Prealgebra in middle sc... [more]

My academic credentials are Master of Science degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Therefore, I can relate mathematical principles to real world problems. This means that I can make mathematical principles more interesting to a student by showing him/her that those principles have uses they can relate to, not just some dry formulas they have to remember for a test. I am currently WyzAnt-approved for ACT math, SAT math, algebra (I and II), trigonometry, geometry, pre-ca... [more]

Calculus is somewhat different from algebra, but when presented properly it is not that hard to learn. I have a PhD in Physics and so I have a lot of experience using calculus to solve physics problems. I have a good background for teaching both calculus theory and applied calculus. I emphasize teaching students how to work problems. This approach is easier for them to grasp than a more traditional lecture style approach. It is also more interesting for the students. I am good at working with students who are failing and with students who want to get straight A's. I get along well with [more]
