You can see from my profile that I have learned and used at lot of mathematics in my career, but I am also an extraordinary teacher who can explain mathematical concepts and solve problems in understandable ways. Calculus attempts to get students to think and talk about how two or more quantities change with respect to one another in the real world. While graphing data illustrates that measurements change and how one measurement changes because another measurement changes, calculus provides a set of procedures that give us more information about these changes. Calculus is fundamental to maki [more]

I have a lot of experience studying and teaching physics, math, and computer science. I have a physics degree from MIT, and I'm in my 4th year of my computer science PhD at the University of Illinois. I've taught summer courses to high school students about theoretical computer science, digital electronics, and microbiology. In addition, I have taught as a computer science teaching assistant in the course of my PhD. I'd be happy to help you learn and get better at middle school and high scho... [more]

When I tutored for a community college, I specialized in the calculus sequence of courses. I passed all three with nearly perfect scores. I have more than two years of experience tutoring calculus. I'm Roger, a UIUC alumnus with bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics. I have been a student and tutor of math since 2010, starting with tutoring in foundational studies, calculus and statistics and continuing through my years as a graduate student. I believe that the best way to learn is through example and practice, and I've been breaking down hard concepts to help students understand the [more]

I am a Mechanical Engineering major who used to hate math too! I have seen the error of my ways and now enjoy learning about math and physics. I am familiar with peer tutoring at the college level through my Junior College Math Lab. It greatly improved my knowledge and one-on-one skills. I love helping students grasp the concepts and solutions they are struggling with. This enables them to improve their tests and scoring and lessen the dread of such challenges. I require dedication and pe... [more]

I use the skills learned in calculus everyday to solve scientific problems. I'm a recent graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a double major in physics and astronomy. I ended my undergraduate career in three years time with a GPA of 3.70. Currently, I'm a research assistant in an observational cosmology laboratory at UIUC. I spend my time analyzing data retrieved from telescopes that observe the echoes produced by the big bang (SPIDER, South Pole Telescope). Next year I'll be applying to graduate schools to pursue a PhD in astronomy & ast... [more]

Hello everyone, I'm Quentin! I'm a native Frenchman who recently moved to Illinois to pursue a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. Before that, I had completed a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's in Materials Science and Metallurgy, both in France. Needless to say, I am a scientist at heart; but I also am very interested in languages, and I love to share the lessons I have learned as a non-native English speaker. I believe that the mark of a good teacher is the abil... [more]

I?ve taken 3 years of calculus, including differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced topics (e.g. series and sequences), and multivariable vector calculus. I also have about a year of experience tutoring calculus to my fellow classmates during high school. I have been tutoring since high school when I volunteered to do so as part of my math club. I liked tutoring my classmates in math during high school because I wanted to debunk the idea that math is the hardest subject. Whether or not I was right, I've always enjoyed helping others understand seemingly difficult concepts. The moment [more]

I graduated from Drury University in 2008 with a major in Mathematics. While I was attending Drury, I tutored both high school and college students in math. Since graduating college I have tutored students of all ages from 4th grade through college. I have tutored students in pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, college algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, geometry, and ACT Math. I am more than happy to tutor younger children too. The style of tutoring that I use most frequently i... [more]

I love teaching math and science, and I know how to make it fun and interesting. As a physicist I work everyday with math and science, and I have a long experience in teaching and tutoring at all levels (university, high school, middle and elementary school). My son (a 5th grader) scores above 99 percentile in all math tests, and you too can have high scores.... [more]

Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III taken. I am currently majoring in Biochemistry with a concentration in pre-medical sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I chose this particular combination because I have a passion for biotechnology and entrepreneurship. I started Mike.io over the summer of my freshman year at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a group of dedicated and detail oriented individuals passionate about creating a user interface overlay that helps people with cerebral palsy navigate the ...
