I have taught and tutored AP Calculus for more than a decade and the majority of my students have received a 5 on the AP exam. When I teach Calculus, I make it more engaging for the student by connecting the math concepts to other subjects. Some students relate more to history and culture so I'll discuss the evolution of unique math concepts. Calculus has a natural connection to science, especially Physics, so I make those connections whenever possible. I also find real-world applications for the Calculus concepts so students see how relevant the math is to their lives. [more]

I have more than 90 Graduate units in pure and applied mathematics and have taught Calculus at both the high school and college level (CSULA). Over the past several years I have tutored many students in AP calculus, college level Calculus both one and several variables at CSUSJ, SCU and CSUSF, Linear Algebra at CSUSJ, SCU and CSUSF, Abstract Algebra at West Valley College, Differential Equations at West Valley College. Hi, my name is James. I am an experienced, patient, and personable tutor of science, mathematics, software, and technology. Science: I have had the pleasure of serving as a h [more]

I tutored three years of calculus while in college. I got straight A's in all my math classes in school, and received a 5 on my AP calculus exam. I am a practicing mechanical engineer at a medical device company, and use the concepts I learned from calculus to solve challenging real world problems. I can help you improve your grades and understand how the concepts you are learning in calculus can be applied to actual problems. Background I?ve always had a passion for teaching and working with young people, and I want to share my love for math and science with others. I believe that studen [more]

I enjoy helping students in general chemistry, biochemistry, AP chemistry, SAT II chemistry and any other school chemistry test preparation. I hold a B.S. in chemistry and M.S. in biochemistry. Using molecular cloning, I have also conducted research in biochemistry and neuroscience laboratories at UC Riverside and San Diego State University. I have extensive teaching experience in college-level general chemistry, biochemistry and neuroscience from three different universities, as well as e... [more]

I have tutored calculus and AP calculus for four years for Wyzant. I tutored all lower division math classes at the Math Learning Center at Cabrillo Community College for 2 years. I assisted in the selection and training of tutors. I have taught algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, geometry, linear algebra, and business math at various community colleges and a state university for 4 years. I also taught high school geometry for 1 year.... [more]

I have a PhD in mathematics. I have a PhD in Mathematics from Colorado State University in 2013. I have 5+ years experience teaching and tutoring undergraduate level math courses. I am available to tutor in a variety of math courses for grades 6 and up and also college level courses including algebra, calculus, discrete math, math for social sciences, probability and statistics. I can also help with SAT test preparation for math levels 1 and 2. I am passionate about teaching and have a never-give-up attitude. My experie... [more]

I tutor AP Calculus and college calculus at all levels. All of my high school students have achieved 5's on the AP test. Last year I worked with an 8th grader that had only taken Algebra 1 interested in advancing his skills, we met a few times each week through the spring and also achieved a 5 on the AP test (he also did a lot of homework!). I have quite a bit of experience as a teacher, tutor, and trainer in a variety of areas. Through high school and college I was a math tutor and have been tutoring professionally for the past two years around 70 hours each week while my fiancee attends grad [more]

Calculus is the basis for all of higher mathematics and hence it is important to have a good fundamental understanding of it for anyone going into higher math or the sciences. Calculus is the study of infinitesimals and what happens to things as you take the limit to infinity. Basic calculus involves learning limits, derivatives and integrals. As the student masters these he or she moves onto multi-variable calculus which involves vectors, 3-d graphing, dot products, cross products, and much more. Additional topics include sums and series, basic differential equations, and applications. [more]

I've tutored all levels of high school math (including AP Calculus BC) professionally for 4+ years. I obtained an A in all college-level math courses (i.e., single and multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra). I scored 800 on the math section of the SAT and scored a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. In 8th grade, my chemistry teacher performed the classic demonstration of throwing sodium metal into water. I watched as the shiny metal skittered along the surface, spontaneously catching fire and exploding with a deafening boom. From that moment on, I?ve had a tremendous fascin [more]

I have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (from Rensselaer) and a Bachelor's degree from IIT. I have tutored college students as well as high school students in all aspects of math. I also have worked in math intensive high-tech companies for over 20 years and know how to use technology to maximize learning. I can teach you calculus using simple intuitive methods (distance, speed, time, accelerations for differential calculus and area for integral calculus) and tie it together with ... [more]
