In Calculus, new concepts are introduced that require higher levels of abstract thinking. I work with students to deconstruct the more complex ideas into simpler, understandable pieces. From limits, to derivatives, to integrals, to refreshing necessary skills from earlier math, I have been working with students in this subject for years with great success. As for my educational qualifications, I have a degree from UCLA in Applied Mathematics, graduating Magna Cum Laude. This training has given me a rock-solid foundation in all the math subjects I teach. [more]

I am a Caltech graduate with a degree in Mathematics and 25 years experience as an Aerospace Engineer. I love teaching math and realize that every student has a unique learning style, so I try to tailor my lessons to allow each student to use their strengths to solve a problem in the way that is easiest for them, while also working on their weak points so they will have more tools available to them to solve problems in different ways in the future. One of the great things about Math is that t... [more]

Calculus is the foundation for math, science and technology; it paves the way. Calculus is a subject that requires success in previous topics. My degree is in Pure Math which means I studied calculus a few days a week for multiple years. After completing my degree I started teaching calculus. It was more then 20 years ago but I am still excited when I can share this beautiful material with my students. What engenders a love of math? How can the door to its beautiful and fun aspects to be opened onto the numbers and their qualities, then remain open through algebra and beyond? Or, how and why d [more]

I have a Master's degree in Engineering. I have more than five years' experience tutoring Calculus. I delivered lectures in College as a professor's Assistant. My goal is to help students understand the concepts - so that they can solve problems on their own - instead of just helping them solve problems. When I meet clients, I like to come prepared, and get sample problems that the student needs help with - ahead of time, so that I can review them before the session. I can turn complicated subjects into something simple and manageable. I love physics and math, and enjoy teaching them. There [more]
