I have competed and placed in national math competitions in calculus. I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to demystify the world of mathematics to individuals, whether they perpetually struggle to understand the concepts taught in class or just need some brushing up to do. I try and work with the student to make sure they see a vast improvements in their grades, and then we work together on perfecting the scores To all A's. I have scored a perfect on the SAT math section three times, and a perfect on SAT Math II as well. I have won multiple mat... [more]

Five years ago, I began teaching in Houston, Texas at a Prep Public School. This has been a wonderfully rewarding decision, as I have always enjoyed tutoring and working together with fellow students on projects. Now that my fiancee is a grad student at FSU, I work as an engineer for the state. On weekends, I return to my passion of tutoring students in Math, Science, Engineering and Computer Science areas. My experience in the classroom and my own high rigor college program (Mechanical E... [more]

I have a Ph.D. in gravitational/mathematical physics and specifically in analysis on differentiable manifolds and systems of partial differential equations. I have also professionally taught for Calculus II at the collegiate level. Officially, the courses that I've taken involving calculus include Calculus I-II, Differential Equations, Complex Variables, Boundary Value Problems and graduate Mathematics for Physicists. In the last seven years I have professionally taught astronomy, calculus, calculus-based physics and privately tutored for physics topics such as algebra, electromagnetism and [more]

I graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Economics (Minor in Mathematics and Political Science). After three years as a Naval Officer I returned to Stanford for an MBA (finance). I worked for a public accounting firm for two years and qualified for my CPA. I spent my career in finance in Silicon Valley, ending as the treasurer of a $750 million company. I am currently retired in Tallahassee, Florida and have taken up tutoring as something interesting to do during retirement. I have s... [more]

My name is Thomas. I have 14 years of full-time mathematics teaching experience; 9 years in Ohio and 5 years in Florida. I have taught mainly Algebra II and Geometry, but I have also taught Algebra I, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, and general math courses. I have nearly 7 years of experience tutoring mathematics in tutoring centers, where I have tutored mainly grades 6-12, but I have also worked with K-5 students and adults. I have done extensive in-home tutoring over the past 3 ye... [more]

Algebra is the most fundamental aspect of math; calculus, derived from algebra, can be the most useful. Whether you are trying to find the mass of an object or the speed and velocity, calculus will help you get there. Now, the issue where most people have difficulty lies in the arithmetic of algebra. Calculus is usually a small part of an equation and the rest is algebra. I can help give you the intuition so that when you come up against a Calculus problem that looks difficult and you take it down step by step you will be able to solve it with ease. [more]

Calculus begins a whole new journey when it comes to mathematics as it puts together all of the practical uses of what we've learned previously. This can be especially difficult for some students. I took AP calculus my senior year of high school and again once I entered college and it has become one of my favorite things to tutor. Hopefully, in the future, I can help you learn it and love it as much as I do. I've been a tutor for the past five years in Tallahassee. I enjoy what I do and I love watching and helping my students succeed. I'm a certified substitute teacher and I've worked with a H [more]
