If not here, where else am I to brag about receiving the top grade in my class at CU Boulder? A fundamental knowledge base in my career as an engineer, Calculus finally puts together useful math on a vast number of professions. I realized the gaps in math education and obtained a BA in Math to complement my secondary math teaching license. After some years of tutoring, Calc has become my favorite subject! Finally putting my job aside to pursue my passion, I left engineering and completed both a Math degree (Dean's list) and a secondary math teaching license in 2013. I tutored my way throug [more]

I started tutoring others in mathematics in 2006 while attending courses at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. I found that tutoring gave me a great sense of fulfillment by assisting others. Assisting other students has increased my awareness of how rewarding and fulfilling the experience of tutoring is. In many ways, it has invigorated my own studies. Since then, I have been employed at Harrisburg Area Community College as a professional tutor, assisting primarily in chemistry, mathemat... [more]

I am a fourth-year MD-PhD candidate with a B.S. in Cellular and Developmental Biology and two minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. My standardized test scores were always strong: SAT 1550/1600, MCAT 41/45, and GMAT 780/800. Those scores are within the 99%-tile. Why is this important? As opposed to class tests where the teacher designs a class geared towards leading you to an answer, standardized tests are designed to trick you! I did well on these tests because I know how to avoid traps.... [more]

I was surprised by my absolute love of calculus. It is a challenging endeavor to master calculus. However, it accurately depicts the world around us in a fluid and dynamic way. I achieved high grades in all three of the calculus classes I have taken. I also received a high grade in the differential equations course, which relies heavily on all the calculus, algebra, and trigonometry courses one may have taken. Due to my initial struggles with mathematics and algebra as a child and as a young adult, I had to learn how to study mathematical sciences. It felt as though I had to learn how to learn [more]
