VISUAL ARTS and ATHLETICS - "Who says you can't have it all!?"

In addition to teaching numerous high school classes how to use PageMaker, InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator for creating unique yearbook pages, I continue to utilize these programs daily in my freelance endeavors. As a freelance designer, I found it necessary to continue with balance in my life. I sought out opportunities to engage in my other passion - playing and coaching sports. Quite by accident, I "fell into" teaching P.E. and coaching various teams at the elementary, middle and high school levels, while being able to continue freelancing as a graphic designer. The two areas complime [more]

Math, Science, and English Tutor, College Counselor.

I am familiar with Word Perfect, Microsoft Word/Office, and various other word processors. I can help teach a student how to format quickly with hotkeys, use macros, insert tables and pictures, create templates, and do many other common word processing tasks. I even know how to disable Clippy. My most recent experience with desktop publishing was the publication of a 100-page thesis in the APA format for my Master's at UCI. This experience in particular could be helpful to any other student considering the publication of a thesis or research paper. I am confident that my skills as an edit [more]

I teach what I know, not what I think I know

Back in the late 1990s, I used Adobe PageMaker and Quark XPress for Desktop Publishing. Functionality wise, Quark XPress was a better choice back then so I mostly use Quark XPress. Overtime, Adobe released InDesign and Acrobat and it made me switch back to use solely the Adobe Suite. You can use both InDesign and Acrobat for Desktop Publishing because each has its own unique features. You can design a 50-page software manual using InDesign and print out the hard copy as well as export a PDF soft copy. You can, then, use Acrobat to create internal links or even add videos within the PDF itself. [more]

Credentialed Math/Science Tutor

I have been using desktop publishing for over twenty years using Microsoft Office in both Mac and PC platforms. I have been a math and science tutor for about 10 years. I took 32 courses of math and science in college. I still keep up with current developments in math and science. I have good relationships with both students and parents. I know state standards for both math and science. I use demonstrative techniques to show my students new topics. I always review the subject matter first before proceeding to a new topic. I provide expectations to get a good grade in tests. I help my studen [more]
