I am a current Mathematics Major aiming for a PhD in mathematics. My main goal for my education as an extension of my style of learning is based around Analytic and Geometric visualizations of mathematical concepts. My goal down the road is to create a program which focuses on helping students grapple with Mathematical ideas and concepts that are better explained through visualization and doing this through a VR which can show the effects of how variables modify the system visually. This is w... [more]

Hi. My name is Ben. I'm a soon-to-be graduated math major. I have a few years of experience tutoring K - 12 math for Mathnasium. I'm very aware that many students struggle in math. So I do my best to help them overcome their hurdles. I explain math problems and solutions in a step-by-step that's easy to follow. What I love most about tutoring is helping students become more confident in solving problems and seeing their sighs of relief when they realize a seemingly impossible problem is in... [more]

I have a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. I currently work as an engineer in Hillsboro but really enjoy teaching. I have been tutoring part time for over 15 years and still always excited to get new students. My tutoring style depends on the learning pattern preferred by the student. I am always willing to modify my pattern to suit every individual. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to be part of the success story of someone. Seeing grades improve under my tutelage is always grea... [more]

I have successfully taken 8 credits of differential equations and have taught an ODE class in Spring 2016 and have taken PDEs. I am currently studying SDEs. Here are comments that my differential equations professor wrote for my transcript: "In differential equations, Jen was an engaged learner, communicating regularly with her faculty and working steadily to learn the material. She turned in only four of the eight homework assignments on time, but she worked assiduously to complete the others, as well as an optional assignment and corrections for each exam, for her portfolio. I use different techniques in tutoring different kind of students to get the information transferred clearly and with joy. I give home works, quizzes and I check the student's previous exams to address his weaknesses and focus on it. I'm patient & passionate in teaching all related subjects to math. [more]

Any degree in physics requires knowledge of diff eqns because physics is completely made out of differential eqns. I took the class Ordinary Differential Equations twice in college. My school was pass fail and the first time around I made a 69% right below pass, the second time in the 90%s. Then I took Mathematical Physics which focused on diff eqns, and I also took Partial differential equations using Strauss textbook which I did well in. There is no such thing as "math people"! I believe there are many paths to understanding and try to find a way of teaching that best harmonizes the topic wi [more]
