I received a 'B' in discrete mathematics from Florida Atlantic University. Since the time that I took this course, I have taken similar courses, many with overlapping content. This content includes logic, set theory, combinatorics, probability, algebra and geometry. Therefore, I believe that my long history with this class and its content makes me qualified to tutor it. Hello, and thank you for your interest in my tutoring services. My name is Aaron, and I would be happy to assist you or your loved one with any educational needs that you or they may have. In 2013, I graduated from Florida Gul [more]

I have taken a college Discrete Mathematics course, and done advanced work in Discrete Mathematics beyond the introductory level. I have many hours of experience tutoring Discrete Mathematics subjects on a one-on-one basis, including Logic, Set Theory, Probability, Combinatorics, Order Theory, Relations, Functions, and more. I try to make learning Discrete Mathematics fun by showing students how logic can be learned through certain specially designed puzzles, and introduce students to tools they might not otherwise have encountered, such as truth table generators and computer algebra systems. Discrete Mathematics was a required course as a Mathematics Major. The topics included in the course span a wide range of fields. Making the connections from Math, to Computer Science, and Physics made the world smaller, yet made it known that there is still much to learn. As a double major in Mathematics and Physics as an undergraduate, I continued to enjoy the connections between the two fields of study I explored as a high school student. Helping students to see the beauty in nature as they solidify their understanding is a joyous experience in itself. The confidence students gain as th [more]

Hi, I'm a certified secondary math teacher from FIU. While I was going to school I was very lucky to have found a program that helped math teachers to become better teachers by tutoring us while we took the hard math classes and by giving us the opportunity to tutor other students after we took the class. I was able to learn at a deeper level since I had to be able to understand well enough to be able to explain it later. Discrete math was on of the subjects that I took and tutored. I believe there is an unlimited amount of learning available from any of these courses and tutoring for me is a [more]

I have a Masters degree in Mathematics and have tutored the subject in the past. I was a professor at the University of Miami that moved to Central Florida. I have more than 30 years experience tutoring math/physics courses and can (and have taught) from High school to PhD-level math courses and from high school to 2nd year in college physics courses. I love teaching and have taught/tutored from the time I was 13 years old. I always had a passion about math as a subject. I was 13 years old when I had calculus and graduated high school when I was 15 years old. I was a... [more]

In my time before becoming a math teacher, I was a tutor at Florida International University and this was a subject that I would tutor at least two to three times per week during my years as a tutor. I am very familiar with all the topics involved in the class. I am also the sponsor for my school's math honor society and I teach those students man of the topics covered in this class. I have a bachelors degree in Mathematics and have completed Masters courses in mathematics as well. I am currently working as a high school math teacher and teach Geometry and AP Calculus AB and BC. I have worked [more]

Over two decades ago I was invited by Concordia University to teach math in the Faculty of Commerce, Department of Decision Sciences and Management Information Systems. My career started with Probability and Statistics for Science and Economics, and Quantitative Methods, teaching students in the MBA program. Discrete Math is an active branch of contemporary math that is used in business, finance, economics, and the life- and social sciences. My first cycle degree, BSc - Math/Economics, positioned me to influence students' perception of the usefulness and applicability of math, and Discrete M [more]

I am currently a full-time faculty member at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee. I teach all undergraduate mathematics courses offered at the university. Can tutor topics in discrete math that include sets, numbers, algorithms, Boolean algebra, computer arithmetic, elementary combinatorics, and an introductory to graph theory. "Why do we have to learn this?" "I'm a Criminal Justice major, why do I need to know what a derivative is?" "Okay, so y=x^2. What does that mean?" I have occasionally tutored Discrete Mathematics since I took it in college over 20 years ago. The beauty of Discrete Mathematics is that while most forms of mathematics lend themselves to problem solving if you know how to go about it, with Discrete Math the approach is usually quite concrete and understandable. My main strength with tutoring is my ability to present material in an easily understandable way. I have been tutoring part-time for over 20 years, and would like to make the jump to full-time. After all, it is what I enjoy, so why not go for it? I have two undergraduate degrees f [more]
