I've successfully completed multiple upper division courses in discrete mathematics. Additionally, I've tutored discrete students at both the high school and college level for several years. I have been tutoring high school and college students as well as adult learners for over a decade. Typically, I find that most students, even those who claim not to be ?math people,? have the skill and ability necessary to be successful, but they often lack confidence. I?m ready to lend a hand -- coaching not just the course material, but offering reassurance and friendly encouragement along the way! I [more]

Hi, I'm a certified secondary math teacher from FIU. While I was going to school I was very lucky to have found a program that helped math teachers to become better teachers by tutoring us while we took the hard math classes and by giving us the opportunity to tutor other students after we took the class. I was able to learn at a deeper level since I had to be able to understand well enough to be able to explain it later. Discrete math was on of the subjects that I took and tutored. I believe there is an unlimited amount of learning available from any of these courses and tutoring for me is a [more]

Discrete Mathematics was a required course as a Mathematics Major. The topics included in the course span a wide range of fields. Making the connections from Math, to Computer Science, and Physics made the world smaller, yet made it known that there is still much to learn. As a double major in Mathematics and Physics as an undergraduate, I continued to enjoy the connections between the two fields of study I explored as a high school student. Helping students to see the beauty in nature as they solidify their understanding is a joyous experience in itself. The confidence students gain as th [more]

I have occasionally tutored Discrete Mathematics since I took it in college over 20 years ago. The beauty of Discrete Mathematics is that while most forms of mathematics lend themselves to problem solving if you know how to go about it, with Discrete Math the approach is usually quite concrete and understandable. My main strength with tutoring is my ability to present material in an easily understandable way. I have been tutoring part-time for over 20 years, and would like to make the jump to full-time. After all, it is what I enjoy, so why not go for it? I have two undergraduate degrees f [more]

I have a Masters degree in Mathematics and have tutored the subject in the past. I was a professor at the University of Miami that moved to Central Florida. I have more than 30 years experience tutoring math/physics courses and can (and have taught) from High school to PhD-level math courses and from high school to 2nd year in college physics courses. I love teaching and have taught/tutored from the time I was 13 years old. I always had a passion about math as a subject. I was 13 years old when I had calculus and graduated high school when I was 15 years old. I was a... [more]

My qualifications for tutoring this subject include: 1) familiarity with the content from having taken the course at the university as a requirement for my electrical engineering and mathematics degrees, 2) further use of the content to math and programming courses (linear algebra, data structures) for which discrete math served as a prerequisite, 3) and industry experience (software testing/quality assurance) in applying the concepts and techniques in the computer science field. I can teach the student the concepts, techniques, and applications for all of the main units of the subject, which [more]

Discrete Math is a subject I have taught for 6+ years and is my favorite to teach. It is a great class for seniors because it helps with SAT math and many freshmen math class will be similar to this course. It is also a great class for students who did not do so well in algebra 2 to catch up for PreCalculus the year after. Most of all it is a fun class to take because it cover subjects rarely covered in HS math classes! Mathematics is a great passion of mine! I love it so much that I decided to make it my career to help others learn and know mathematics. Since I can remember I have never [more]

I completed discrete Math I and II during my undergrad and grad classes. Copies of my transcripts are available upon request. My name is Herve. I hold a Masters of Sciences from Hofstra University. I am a Math-Education Specialist. I am able to implement various strategies tailored especially for Elementary Teachers who need to learn how to develop creative strategies to help 3,4,5, and 6th Graders. 3,4 and 5th grades are crucial time in the child development in Arithmetic. I am a former High School Math Teacher and Adjunct Math Professor in College. I have experience teaching and tutoring A [more]

I have been tutoring undergraduate and graduate level mathematics on weekly basis for more than 3 years. I have more than 80 graduate credit hours in mathematics. Most of the above mentioned classes commonly use the techniques learned in Discrete mathematics. Mathematics is easy only for Will Hunting. For the rest of us it is only easy one small step at the time. Gifted students and/or interesting subjects will get a significant discount. My tutoring methods are limited to the first order logic within Zermelo-Fraenkel system and with heavy use of the law of excluded middle and the Axiom of C [more]

I am currently a full-time faculty member at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee. I teach all undergraduate mathematics courses offered at the university. Can tutor topics in discrete math that include sets, numbers, algorithms, Boolean algebra, computer arithmetic, elementary combinatorics, and an introductory to graph theory. "Why do we have to learn this?" "I'm a Criminal Justice major, why do I need to know what a derivative is?" "Okay, so y=x^2. What does that mean?" All questions I've heard many times Hello, my name is Rick W. We all do better in classes we enjoy. For man [more]
