I have taught through calculus to homeschoolers, who have gone on to enroll in private universities. I have taught the objects studied in discrete mathematics, e.g., integers, graphs, and the predicate calculus (statements in logic). There is no formal definition of discrete mathematics, except for what it excludes, which is continuous flows of numbers; however, it has come up in my teaching of algebra, pre-calculus, and introduction to calculus. Part of my PhD in philosophy included 3 quarters of study of logic, including the predicate calculus through Goedel?s Incompleteness theorem. Par [more]

I have taught discrete mathematics to elementary and special education populations for several years. Moreover, I have graduate-level training in elementary mathematics (discrete math) and graduate-level coursework in finite mathematics (also discrete math). As a school teacher in several districts, I attended several training sessions on fundamentals of math, conceptual vs procedural and specialized instruction skills for discrete math. Greetings! I have taught most every subject from K-12 for students in general education, English Language Acquisition and special education settings in bot [more]

I have taught semester courses in number theory and combinatorics at Reed College. I have been teaching at Reed College since 1989 and now am looking to do some tutoring beyond that venue in anticipation of retiring soon. In light of my work experience, probably I am best suited for now to work with advanced high school students or college students, or with precocious younger students. My teaching method starts with trying to find the student's points of strength and understanding, and then building on those to address challenges or difficulties. I enjoy helping peop... [more]

I have graduated from Tsinghua Univ. in Beijing China (like MIT in U.S.) with a BS and MS in Physics. Then I got a fellowship from Univ. of Rochester and got my PhD in Optics there. I took a comprehensive math courses including Discrete math. I'm very good at the subject myself and am experienced in tutoring it. Dear students and parents, I am very happy to have this chance to help you personally on some of the subjects you don't grasp well in the classroom or refine/enhance your problem solving skills. First please let me briefly introduce myself. I graduated from Tsinghua University, the [more]

I have tutored mathematics & accounting for that last 9 years. I covered Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Linear Algebra, Probability, Discrete Math, Principal Economics, Finite Math, Differential Equations, Logic, Statistics & Trigonometry. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, 2003 and currently am also working on my Master's in Financial Accounting in Portland State University. I use different techniques in tutoring different kind of students to get the information transferred clearly and with joy. I give homework, quizzes and I check the student's previous exams to address his weaknesses [more]

I have tutored number theory, combinatorics and other topics related to and part of discrete mathematics. I have a Mathematics Minor from Baylor University. I received an "A" in "Combinatorics and Number Theory" at my University, and I have experience using Matlab and Mathematica software systems to perform Discrete Math and symbolic logical operations. About me: I was an Academic Mentor at the Paul L. Foster Success Center at Baylor University in Texas until returning to Florida. I attend med school at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL and am enjoying my summer break relaxing and t [more]
