I took Math 215 at UIC which is very similar in content to Discrete Math. It is more of a theoretical version of Discrete Math which is more heavy on proofs. I did so well that I was asked by the Dept Head at UIC to be the TA for the class which I did for two semesters. I am very familiar with the concepts in Discrete Math. I recently tutored a student (John) from WyzAnt on Discrete Math and it went very well and he wrote a great review. I have a Master's degree in Mathematics with Distinction from Oxford University and a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics with Distinction from the University of [more]

Having earned a master's degree in mathematics, I have the knowledge and experience necessary to teach discrete math. I have taken courses in logic, number theory, probability and statistics, and linear algebra; all these courses are a part of discrete math. I have over fifteen years of experience tutoring to high school, college, and graduate students. My specialty lies in tutoring mathematics in several areas such as calculus, elementary/abstract algebra, linear algebra, differential equations, real/complex analysis, and topology. In my experience, I've found that students learn mathematic [more]

From acquiring my Bachelor's in Pure Mathematics and my Master's in Statistics, I am thoroughly familiar with many subfields of discrete mathematics, including combinatorics, algebraic and analytic number theory, discrete probability theory, to name a few. I also have many experiences tutoring high-school and college level 'discrete mathematics' to many students. To students and parents: From my experiences, I've learned how to communicate confusing and difficult mathematical concepts in multiple ways that can be understood by anyone. If something doesn't make sense to you, I can explain it [more]

I completed a Discrete math course (included formal logic, graph theory, etc.) in college, and computer science courses that handled automata theory, finite state machine, etc. ...I love to help. Math is my specialty - including calculus, geometry, precalculus, and statistics! I have a Bachelor's of Science from California Institute of Technology (CIT), an incredibly challenging university. My teaching style is one of: * LISTENING to see what your student is doing; to learn how he or she thinks. * ENCOURAGING students to push a little farther; to show them what they're really capable of. During my undergraduate education, I had a number of course involving discrete mathematics including probability theory, logic, abstract algebra and abstract geometry. I also had two years of calculus including analysis and differential equations. In addition, I have a minor in statistics from Western Illinois University and a doctorate in educational psychology with an emphasis in research statistics from Northern Illinois University. I can tutor in most kinds and levels of mathematics and many areas of statistics. In addition, I can tutor in some levels of physics. I have a degree in mat [more]

I taught 2 semesters of college general math, which included discrete math topics. Also, many of the the topics covered in a discrete math class are covered in various classes between 6th grade and 12th grade, which I have taught. Hello Students and Parents, My experience and education will make me your perfect tutor. First, I have 12 years of teaching and tutoring experience at the middle and high school levels covering all subjects Pre-Algebra through Calculus; including honors classes. I have taught community college general math and tutored many students in the past. I have Bachelor's [more]

I have taught Finite Mathematics at Community College of Baltimore County and at Towson University many times. Both these subjects include concepts of Discrete Mathematics such as combinatorocs, probability, in different levels, set theory etc in different levels. They are math subjects that are relatively more related with everyday life. I am a mathematics teacher, with more than 40 years of mathematics teaching experience at the public and private high school, community college and University level. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to accommodate diverse student needs by assi [more]

I have taken Discrete Mathematics courses as part of my undergraduate degree in Mathematics. I have used Discrete Mathematics as a foundation for my Finite Mathematics courses at Lewis University and the University of Phoenix. I am a fun-loving, pragmatic, task master. I believe in making math fun through the use of computational tricks and short cuts that are often no longer taught in schools. I recognize that some students are handicapped when their learning style does not match the style of their teacher; so I adapt. I believe that understanding the "why" and "when" is perhaps more impo [more]

I have taught this course at 2 colleges & 1 high school. Since this course is often for computer majors, I have also taught both computer programming and Numerical Methods at 2 other colleges. I have taught at 7 different colleges (public, private, and technical). I received awards for my teaching based on student evaluations - mostly because I am patient and take time to tutor students having trouble. I have also written high school math textbooks. I know math and I want to help you know it, too! I have taught non-credit college courses: Pre-algebra 1 and 2, Elementary Algebra, and Interme [more]

I took and passed Discrete Math (MATH 240) with a high B. Not only do I employ discrete mathematics in the programs that I write, but used the concepts in a higher level cryptography course (MATH 375). I passed the latter with a high B as well. While working in the Career Development office at Dominican University, I was consulted to perform projects both large and small using Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word. This combined with my programming and coding skills set me apart in the office and per their recommendation, I was personally invited to tutor computer science. In the process of doing [more]
