In my Masters program at Rice, I've had extensive studies in discrete optimization and graph theory. I'm also the co-author of a graph theory paper (currently submitting for publication). - 13 years of classroom experience (in the public school systems of Philadelphia, Cambridge and Houston) - over 15 years tutoring experience - Masters in Education from the University of Pennsylvania - Currently a grad student in Applied Mathematics at Rice University My specialty is high school math, but I have experience teaching all ages and all levels of math, from the most elementary concepts to univers [more]

As part of my Electrical Engineering degree requirements, I have taken Finite Math, Linear Algebra, and Digital Logic. These courses include the study of binary numbers, matrices, Boolean Logic, functions and subsets. I have also taken the accompanying lab associated with Digital Logic. I am experienced enough in this area to tutor Discrete Math. Hi, "My Turning Point Struggle with Math" I am Martin. I am an Electrical Engineer. When I started UNO, my ACT score placed me in remedial math. In my defiance of this placement, I received permission by the Dean to skip remedial math and take [more]

I earned an A in my undergraduate Foundations of Mathematics course (Math 2040 at Louisiana State University: Introduction to techniques of mathematical proofs; sets, logic, relations and functions, induction, cardinality and properties of real numbers.) I also hold a Master's Degree in Mathematics. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn Math. Not everyone has the easiest time learning it in a classroom setting, of course, but I can honestly say I never tutored anyone who didn't understand the material after a little one-on-one explanation. I like to meet a student where they are [more]

I have tutored discrete math for years when I worked as a tutor at the Math Learning Center in Santa Cruz, CA. I am very familiar with the concepts taught in Discrete math such as probabilities in combinatorics, graph theory, and general logic. In discrete math, the student learns a great deal of math concepts on the surface level. I have taken classes in Combinatorics and Abstract Algebra that deal with graph theory, so my understanding of the topics covered in Discrete math is very strong. [more]

I taught and tutored Discrete Math for over 7 years. I have a Master's in Math and successfully completed the course myself a few years ago. Since then, I had a lot of experience working with students on Discrete Math. I am happy to share that all my tutoring students end up with A or B average in the course. I am a Certified Math Teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience and a former teacher at the award-winning DeBakey High School for Health Professions. I have Master's Degree in Education and Math. Over the years of being a classroom teacher, I have had the privilege of helping hund [more]

Discrete math covers the topics of math that do not include all possible real numbers within a set but instead a finite amount. This kind of math is often used in computer science and numerical methods and includes things like Boolean algebra, truth tables, graphing, sequences and series, proofing using induction, logic, relations and basic algorithms. I have tutored all these subjects in math as well as took a course on it and received a 99 for my grade. I use the applications of a lot of this math all the time in my circuitry courses as well as for determining efficiency of algorithms for pr [more]

As a math major at UT, I took honors discrete math, in which I made an A. I am a mathematics PhD student at Rice University with years of experience teaching and tutoring a variety of classes aimed at science and mathematics students at the university and high school level. Having excelled in countless upper division and graduate mathematics classes, I can say, without a doubt, that mathematics is one of the most beautiful subjects a person can explore. I think this is where the vast majority of math teachers and tutors lose their students. As a result, my foremo... [more]

With my extensive math background, including four semesters of Engineering Calculus, I feel confident I can tutor Discrete Math. Ivy League educated math tutor with excellent references available. I was valedictorian of my high school and earned a full scholarship to college. I am a CORNELL GRADUATE in engineering, whose second career is giving back by teaching children to love learning. Recently I obtained my Texas State teaching certification in Math 8-12, and I have taught TAKS Math classes and credit recovery in Math, Chemistry and Physics. My strength is making math seem simple. I am a current graduate student at Florida Gulf Coast University in Applied Mathematics. I received an A in Discrete Mathematics at FGCU. As an undergraduate, I tutored fellow classmates that were struggling in the subject, helping the class maintain a B average. I tutored two undergraduates last year in Discrete Mathematics successfully. When I tutor Discrete Math, most time is spent sitting beside a white board discussing different ways of imagining what the question is really asking. That's usually the most difficult part. Once a picture is in the students head, we go about sketching proofs [more]
