Discrete math is a catch-all term encompassing many diverse areas of mathematics. There is no universal agreement as to what constitutes discrete math. Discrete math is defined less by what topics are included than by what is excluded. Excluded are notions of continuity upon which calculus is built. Consequently, discrete math is described as "non-calculus" math. Finite math is an introductory course in discrete math. A typical finite math course is a survey course consisting of: linear functions, matrices, linear inequalities, linear programming, the Simplex Method, counting (combinato [more]

I'm very familiar with set theory, Boolean algebra, and combinational logic as applied to control systems and computer programming. Finite Math is often an alternative term for discrete math. I have experience with this at the community college level. Finite math often includes probability, statistics, as well as possibly linear programming, matrices, math modelling, and many other various topics. Having taught at the high school level, and currently teaching at a local community college and tutoring at that college as well, I have worked with many different topics. I have taught in the public schools for several years as well at the community college level. I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities. I [more]

I am proficient in teaching/tutoring Finite Math, which is part of Discrete Math. I mean to say that I have had experience tutoring students on countable sets and combinatorics involving countable sets. I hold a master's degree in a scientific field (geology). My math tutoring experience spans four decades, two cities in two countries (Cebu City, Philippines; and DeKalb, Illinois, U.S.A.), and hundreds of clients (grade school, high school, college/university, adult learners, testpreppers). Many of the students that I had the privilege to tutor are now successful professionals. Those whom I oc [more]

Hi! Discrete mathematics and probability courses were some of my favorites. I taught courses that rely on discrete mathematics and probability for high school, college, and summer enrichment camps. I have two relevant postgraduate degrees; a M.A. in Mathematics and a M.T in Mathematics Teaching. I am a teacher and instructor with over 7 years in classrooms with students from the 7th grade through college. My students are extremely successful on every high school end-of-course exam and that success continues in their future math classes. Why? We work together to develop intuition, critica [more]

I have a Masters degree in applied mathematics and most coursework for a doctorate. This includes linear algebra, modern algebra, mathematical physics, topology, complex and real variable analysis and functional analysis in addition to calculus and differential equations. Hi!! My name is Harry O. I have been tutoring high school and college students for the past six years. Previously I taught at Georgia Institute of Technology from which I received a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and a Master's in Applied Mathematics. I also have 25 years of experience in the corporate world. My s [more]

I have tutored and taught discrete math many times, and it's one of my favorite subjects. Hi, I'm Damon. I genuinely enjoy sharing my enthusiasm about math and view it as a mission to help improve math's reputation among the topics of study. I started tutoring as a math grad student working on my PhD, and continued on during and after my academic teaching. In many ways I prefer tutoring to teaching in a traditional classroom setting, because while tutoring I have the luxury of being able to respond specifically to a student?s concerns and craft my message for just one student a... I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington. Also, I have a Masters in Education of Math. I have tutored students in Discrete Math since I was in College. My teaching is focused on this subject and I refer to it often in my classes. Hello! My name is Saman and welcome to my page! With 10+ years of formal teaching experience and tutoring hundreds of students of all ages, I graduated top of my class with a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington, and a M.Ed. in Math Education from DePaul University Chicago. I am qualified to teach several topics in discrete mathematics including set theory, graph theory, probability, number theory, algebra, discrete calculus, geometry, game theory and discretization. I have taken several mathematics courses covering these topics during my PhD in Engineering from Michigan State University and MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business in analytical finance. Besides giving you concepts and practice problems, I can also explain the applications of discrete mathematics and why it is such an important branch of mathematics in several technical fields such [more]
