As a graduate student at The University of Rhode Island (URI), I aced courses in combinatorics, probability, abstract algebra, set theory, topology, logic, and finite projective geometry. I am currently involved in discrete mathematical research, specifically to establish meaningful relationships between discrete and continuous dynamical systems. I've been successful at this task for dynamical systems generated by a homogeneous map on the punctured plane. I'm working to extend this result to linear combinations of such maps. I must acknowledge that I am not by any means an expert in graph theo [more]

Combinatorics was one of my favorite subjects in college and I enjoyed taking three courses on it in the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program. I wrote my senior thesis in combinatorial design theory. I took and was a TA for advanced combinatorics classes in graduate school. I have tutored students both for discrete math classes for computer science majors (covering things like Turing machines) and discrete mathematics classes which are alternatives to calculus (emphasizing things like proofs by induction and Euclid's algorithm). I have a bachelor's degree in Economics and a master's degree in math education. I am in my 10th year of teaching high school math, and have also taught one semester of college algebra as an adjunct professor. I taught AP Statistics last year and believe that I am qualified to teach discrete math. I am in my 13th year of teaching high school math, and have taught all levels from Pre- Algebra to honors calculus and AP Statistics. I recently completed my master's in Math Education for grades 9-12. I have also coached high school baseball and softball for the past 15 years. I teach students t [more]

I have a B.S. in Mathematics. I got A's in Discrete Structures I and II as well as in Number Theory (which is closely related). I've taught high school math for seven years and have been tutoring for nine years. I have been tutoring and teaching math for 12 years. I specialize in math so that I can bring the highest quality instruction to the table. One of my best attributes is being able to quickly assess a student's level of understanding, and being able to build from there. Math is a bottom up subject, and small holes in the foundation can spell disaster down the road. While worki [more]

I have a BA and an MA in mathematics. In both degrees the focus was on discrete math, logic, and algebra. I also taught a course in discrete math, held office hours, and worked in a tutoring office that covered this subject. I am driven by the challenge of helping every student to succeed. Most recently I have done this at the secondary level as a public charter school teacher. Prior to that, alongside my own doctoral work in mathematics, I taught and assistant-taught college-level math classes, from remedial Calculus to Multivariate Calculus. Helping students discover math themselves is the [more]

I have taken one semester of Discrete Math, plus two semesters of advanced analysis and one of complex analysis for which the tools learn in such a class are implemented. I received an A for each of those courses. I have a B.S. in both Applied Mathematics and Earth Science. I have two bachelors degrees, one in Applied Mathematics and one in Earth Science. I am currently attending Brown university to obtain a PhD in Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences with a focus in oceanography. For mathematics, my strengths are in calculus, linear algebra and ODE/PDE. I have also taken courses in a [more]

I have taken courses in Discrete Mathematics and the focus of my doctoral research was rational Difference Equations. I am a PhD Applied Mathematician with teaching and tutoring experience at all levels. I also have Master's Degrees in both Mathematics and Electrical Engineering and over 40 years of experience, mostly in scientific research, but also in academia. I look forward to working with you to build your confidence and ability. Attitude is everything, and I KNOW you can master what it takes to succeed, consistent with your own goals and needs.... In Early Childhood discrete math means using countable sets, whether finite or infinite. These include algorithms and real problems. Students study whole numbers or integers which are rational numbers. This includes positive (and negative) numbers, zero ~ all counting numbers. As early as Kindergarten students are introduced to rational numbers expressed as a quotient of a fraction ~ i.e., The pie is cut in four pieces. I ate one piece. That's one part of 4 parts of the pie. Expressed as: 1/4 Taught as simply as that. [more]

I was an Applied Math major and was required to take Discrete Math/Logic. I received a 100% in the course, taught in the tutoring center, and helped write a solution manual for the instructor. I also took an Abstract Algebra course which relies on the material from Discrete Math and received a 100% in that course as well. I have a degree in Applied Mathematics from Southern New Hampshire University. I have been a tutor for 20 years, specializing in standardized tests, high school and college math, high school science, college physics, and tutoring many other subjects including Excel, Word, com [more]

I took a graduate level course in discrete math and critical problem solving. Afterwards, I taught discrete math to my fellow teachers and facilitated workshops in discrete math for the school.
