I took a discrete math course in college and received an A. The course was counted toward my minor in math that I got along with my math-heavy mechanical engineering degree. Hello! I graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania in May of 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in math. In high school I was a national merit finalist and scored a perfect 1600 on my SAT. I took the GRE in 2008, attaining a perfect math score of 800 and similarly high scores for the verbal and analytic sections. I worked for three years as a syst [more]

As a college teacher I have taught many of the components of a typical discrete mathematics course including set theory, functions, equivalence relations, combinatorics and probability. Moreover, my specialty in mathematics was logic which is relevant to discrete math. After a career as a math teacher, I feel that my level of mathematical sophistication is sufficiently high to help me master topics in discrete math that I've not previously encountered. My formal education is in Physics and Mathematics. While earning my Ph.D. in Mathematics at Penn State, I taught over 30 math courses. Later [more]

I taught discrete mathematics at the university level for several years. The discrete math courses were at two different levels. The introductory course was taken by students who went on to work in computer science or who became math teachers. The higher level class was for mathematics majors. Some of the topics covered were set theory, counting techniques, relations, functions, logic and proofs. Over the years, I've worked on good ways to present the logical material in discrete math and to find appropriate examples to explain the area. [more]

In the course of my education and past tutoring experiences, I have developed some familiarity with some topics that are considered discrete math and covered in some discrete math courses, such as Logic and boolean algebra, coding theory, probability, basic combinatorics of combinations, permutations, the basics of graph theory, proving relationships using induction, set theory problems using Venn diagrams or boolean algebra notation, binary number systems (other base number systems), recurrence relations, binomial expansion theorem, Pascal's triangle, conditional probability, and De Morgan' [more]

As a math Major with a Bachelors degree, I dealt in depth with many Discrete Math concepts. I became proficient in proofs with logic and set theory in my college level course on Logic. I tackled many discrete series in Calculus II and III, and in other classes I dealt with binary operations, relation and function analysis and composition, modular arithmetic, induction, and groups. Lastly, my two college-level Probability and Statistics courses and actuarial exam experience have helped me greatly grasp concepts of combinatorics and concepts modeled in Discrete Math courses. I am highly qualified to tutor students in discrete math because I not only hold a Ph.D. in mathematics (Clemson University, 1999), but also because my area of mathematical research was in a branch of discrete mathematics. I have taught and tutored mathematics at the college level for the past twenty years. This experience includes both teaching discrete math courses and tutoring discrete math students. I am an Electrical engineer graduate from the University of Akron and have been tutoring students in math up to Calculus III. I am an Electrical Engineer graduate from the University of Akron currently working as a network administrator. I have been tutoring middle school, high school and college students in math ranging from: basic math to Calculus III. I also taught a pre-engineering class for high school students for the Upward Bound program at the University of Akron from 2001 - 2005. I?m currently teaching a financial literacy class to 6th and 7th grade students at Emanuel Christian Aca [more]

Discrete math is one of my favorite subjects to tutor. I tutored discrete math while working at YSU Mathematics Assistance Center. I also have tutored related math for Computer Science courses taught in the CS Department. I recently graduated from Kent State University with a PhD in Pure Math. I recently graduated from Kent State University with a PhD in Pure Math. I also have a Bachelors degree in Math from Cal Tech and a Masters degree in Math from Youngstown State University. I have taught algebra and fundamental mathematics at the college level. I taught one quarter of college trigonome [more]

I am a former high school math teacher that used to teach and tutor math students in discrete mathematics. Probably by strongest field is logic and probability in discrete mathematics. GRE prep for Penn State students, SAT pre for State College High School students. I have a strength in science and math having attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. I then was educated further and got my teaching certificate for math and science at the secondary level and taught in school systems for over 10 years. I can help with [more]

I have a B.S. in pure mathematics from Indiana University with a GPA of 3.6/4.0. Discrete math, Finite Math, Linear Algebra and Logic are all early-level courses in this track, I feel confident I can help anyone with whatever problems they might have with these subjects. I've taught math in the classroom in Colorado. I've been tutoring since I was in high school myself. I have many different ways to approach different concepts and can probably find the best way for your needs. I've had great success teaching students everything from beginning fractions through all of high school math throu [more]
