I have taken three whole college classes with various discrete math topics. However, this subject is so broad that it could include any number of concepts. Although I am familiar with 90% of discrete math concepts taught in high school and undergrad, I may need to refer to notes for a few topics. This usually works out fine and I extend the lesson appropriately at no charge if needed. Current availability: I am booked with standing appointments at times when traditional students are available (after school and weekends), but I can work students in when I have cancelations. I have plenty o [more]

I am currently an Exceptional Children Math teacher at Southwest High. I have taught children with learning disabilities, attention disorders, and behavior disorders in the general curriculum, and have taught Discrete Math several times. I have access to and am familiar with the Guilford County Discrete math curriculum and support materials. I have been in education for 19 years, both in private and public schools as an administrator and classroom teacher, and tutor. Currently, I am in my 12th year teaching Math I, II, III and Discrete Math to special needs students in a local public High Sch [more]

I taught an introduction to mathematical proofs course, which is similar in content to discrete mathematics, at the University of Maryland. I have also taken multiple college level courses on discrete mathematics and related subjects (including theory of computation, mathematical logic, Boolean algebra, and digital design) and have tutored the subject on many occasions. Additionally, I have substantial background in computer programming, for which discrete mathematics is a theoretical underpinning. [more]

I have taught Discrete Math six times in the NC public school system. I developed most of the curriculum from scratch. I am very knowledgeable of the subject matter in this course. I offer tutoring for high school and middle school math including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Common Core Math 1, 2, & 3, Intro to College Math (ICM), Advanced Functions & Modeling (AFM), and Discrete Math. I have been a high school math teacher and math tutor for over 15 years and I service Wake Forest, Youngsville, Franklinton, Creedmoor, Oxford, Butner, and surrounding areas. [more]

In my time as an undergraduate, and later as a mathematics graduate student, I took and passed courses in number theory, modern algebra, and combinatorics. These constitute, on the whole, branches on the tree for which the Discrete Math course attempts to serve as basic stem. I have and currently do tutor students in the aforementioned courses, particularly first courses at the undergraduate level. My own philosophy with regard to this material is that the student must collect as many basic examples of each type of system/theorem/algorithm as possible, in order to learn to distinguish the r [more]

I have taken a discrete math course at UNCW and passed. In this course I have studied graph theory, matrix operations and applications; linear programming, series and sequences and calculator-based programming. Hello, I graduated from UNCW class of 2004 with a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Statistics. I've been tutoring math for more than ten years and I am currently a math instructor at a community college going into my 6th year. As a youth minister at a church in Durham, NC, I have volunteered to tutor many young and older church members as well as people from in the community. I teach [more]

I took a course in this subject a year ago and excelled at it with a grade of A-. During the class and after, I have helped those in the class with any questions about the material. Since, I have continued to use said material for higher level math classes as well. Hello, I'm Ian and I'm a currently a junior at James Madison University and am majoring in Mathematics. I am also on the President's List and a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, the Math Honor Society. Throughout college, I've developed strong relationships with my professors which has helped me gain insight on how to teach these subjects. [more]

While in undergrad I took and received an A in my discrete math class, it was also one of my favorite. I understand the shift that occurs in this class due to the nature of being a proof-oriented class. To tutor this class you need to understand more than just solving for x, you need patience and to be an excellent communicator, both of which I have. Those are the methods and philosophy I will bring while tutoring this subject. I am an experienced math tutor who works patiently to understand your unique learning style. I utilize learning strategies that engage and allow you to grow in your own [more]

I have a MS in mathematics and was a teaching assistant for discrete mathematics as a graduate student at the University of New Hampshire. I also took probability and several statistics courses along with many abstract algebra courses on the way to my MS degree. I have years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have taught at both the high school and collegiate level and I was an academic support specialist which is essentially a professional college tutor for years. I currently tutor MCAT prep for a major national tutor company and I am consistently very highly ranked and I was a Kaplan MC [more]

I have taken Discrete Mathematics. I received an A- in the class. I tutored a peer in the class and took him from a failing to a passing grade. I began tutoring when I was in high school and have always really enjoyed it. I find it extremely rewarding to provide students with the lightbulb moment when everything clicks. I have been tutoring for four years now. The past summer I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Duke TIP teaching two math classes. This upcoming semester I will be serving as an Undergraduate Assistant for a biomedical engineering class. I also will be volunteering as [more]
