I majored in mathematics at Pomona College and received my BA in math. As part of my major, I studied discrete math. In addition, I've taken many in-depth courses on the various aspects, such as combinatorics, graph theory, and more. I like how a good discrete math course teaches both concrete concepts while still allowing for interesting puzzles and creative problem solving. Hi! I'm Vincent, a recent graduate of Harvard University who moved to Los Angeles a few months ago. I've had lots of experience tutoring a wide variety of math subjects. I've done in-home tutoring in Pre-Algebra, Alge [more]

Discrete Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects in math. It is the math topics class for upper division math students. I loved taking it and I have been tutoring it for the last decade. I have tutored many students from California State Channel Islands, as well students from Cal Lutheran in Discrete Math. This class is one that teaches you the language of mathematics in proofs, combinatorics, beginning number theory and more! Each teacher has a specific section of discrete they like to focus on, so each semester is a new and happy challenge. [more]

I took one undergraduate course in discrete math, and received an "A" in the class. We covered logic and proofs, algorithms, counting methods, recurrence relations, graph theory, trees, and network models. I have taught/tutored for 7 years. I was both a student and graduate assistant at CSULB where I attained a B.S. in Mathematics and a M.S. in Statistics. I have experience tutoring in all mathematics subjects up to and including graduate-level material. I have a massive amount of experience in tutoring almost all of the subjects that I'm qualified to teach or tutor. Thus, it is very diffic [more]

I have tutored a couple students in discrete math. While I haven't taught discrete math, I have taught some of the topics that are covered in discrete math, including induction and proof techniques. Discrete math is one of my favorite subjects because it includes a wide variety of topics that are foundational for abstract mathematics, including logic, set theory, and proof techniques. Because of this, I still regularly use knowledge and skills that I first learned in discrete math. I have 10 years experience teaching math at the college level, and five years of tutoring experience prior t [more]

My course qualifications have been met through completion of college coursework and 15 years of tutoring experience in discrete mathematics. Through the completion of the "UCLA Math 61" course, which including sets and relations, permutations and combinations, graphs and trees, induction, I gained the content understanding necessary to both teach and tutor the aforementioned content. Since then, I have successfully tutored dozens of computer science and economic students, at the University and College levels. [more]

I've taught almost all types of mathematics. When I taught high school, we used discrete math a majority of the time. We focused in on objects mainly, but I explained the process thoroughly. I'm one of those male teachers where children gravitate to me. I'm an energetic and passionate teacher, and I can relate to children. I have the motivation and dedication to ensure success. I use lots of examples. I teach in all styles of learning: auditory, visually, and kinesthetically. Every child is different, so I tend to child's needs to the best of my ability. My motto has always been "teach to lear [more]

Discrete math is the fundamental and one of the first requirements in the field of computer engineering. I took this class in the first semester and have used it throughout my degree. I've got an "A" in this course also. I have used discrete math in 5 different courses. These are the subjects that I've covered: -Logic: application & propositional equivalence -Predicates and Quantifier; Nested Quantifiers -Sets; Set Operations -Functions; Sequence & Summation I've earned my B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Cal State Long Beach. I was a math tutor in my community college. I have done [more]

I received an A in Discrete Math at MIT. I tutored other MIT students in the subject. I competed in Computer Science competitions involving Discrete Math, placing well in State and National competitions. I graduated from MIT with a Bachelor's in Computer Science and a perfect GPA. Throughout my time there, I tutored both high schoolers and college students in a variety of math and science courses. Although I'm new to Wyzant, MIT's Computer Science department hired me to tutor my peers, and I have over 6 years of tutoring experience. As a tutor, my students complimented my ability to take co [more]

Discrete mathematics is particularly fun and intuitive subject for students that has useful application in the real world. I've personally used linear programming to solve a particular banking problem. In fact my PhD in Business Quantitative Analysis from the University of Wisconsin employs many of these topics. In addition I have obtained BA degree with a major in math from Dartmouth College as well as an MA in math and MBA also from the University of Wisconsin. Finally I am an excellent tutor with instructional experience at the high school and college levels [more]
