I took a class in discrete applied mathematics at M.I.T. I took a class in number theory. I also took a class in combinatorics. I taught myself probability and passed the actuarial probability exam. (I had the deeper theoretical background of measure theory, and simply coupled it with the combinatorics.) I studied mathematics at M.I.T. for many years. I came to Georgia to get a doctorate in philosophy. I have been teaching and tutoring for a decade at various colleges, including Athens Technical College, University of Georgia, Piedmont College, and the University of South Carolina, Upstate. [more]

I'm a college math professor who has taught at Morehouse College, Kennesaw State, Mercer, and Perimeter in the greater metro Atlanta area. I have over 20 years of teaching experience specific to the areas of mathematics, in addition to having received my doctorate in the subject at University of Stony Brook, New York. Currently at Morehouse, I'm teaching Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, and Advanced Calculus courses. I've been teaching mathematics for over 20 years, and I have expansive experience in all areas, including all high school math to college level (AP calculus, pre-calculus, algebra, [more]

While tutoring in the math lab at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB), I tutored at least one student (taking the course) every week. I've worked in the math lab for several years. I am a PhD graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). I've been teaching and tutoring mathematics for over 10 years. My strongest personal characteristics in tutoring are that I'm good with children and adults with anxiety or attention deficit disorder, patient with the student, and encouraging. There are objectives that I have when tutoring the student: explaining the material so that the studen [more]

Because so many different mathematical disciplines fall under the umbrella of "discrete mathematics," it takes a "big picture" point of view to really appreciate the vast implications of its principal results. Counting, logic, set theory, probability, number theory, and several more subjects are all contained under the characterization "discrete math," as they all deal with constructions related to operations taken over the integers, and not requiring the full contiuum of real numbers, as in analysis. As a mathematics major and longtime tutor, I'm uniquely qualified to make sure students are [more]

I have a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in mathematics. I have taught, tutored or taken classes in sets, sequences, summations, permutations and combinations, probability, graph theory, automata theory, computational complexity, number theory (congruence and recurrence relations), relations and logic. I have a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in mathematics. I have six years of formal math teaching and tutoring experience. My experience includes working with students from middle school through university graduate school. I have provided formal tutoring to traditional and non-t [more]

I took and earned an A in MA 293, a discrete mathematics course at Boston University where I received my BA in mathematics. In my physics studies I have applied my knowledge of discrete mathematics to statistical mechanics, where combinatorics define the probabilities of configurations of particles and lay the foundations of statistical distributions. When appropriate, I have tutored my colleagues in various topics in discrete mathematics such as set theory, counting, and propositional logic. I have tutored through the National Honor Society. I have taken many courses at the undergraduate and graduate level from Penn State and Temple that contain the material in what is typically referred to as "Discrete Math". Hi everyone. I'm a math instructor at a local university and absolutely love doing math. I have taught and more specifically tutored math for over 12 years. I understand that not everyone likes math and that it can be stressful when a certain topic is not understood. I'm very patient, friendly, and like to break things down to the basics to help get through each topic. I hope help you with whatever challenges you are faci [more]

I have done bachelors, masters and doctors in Mathematics and taught college and university mathematics. I also taught Higher level Math in IB Diploma for 9 years. With the highest score in Praxis Math I am an internationally certified teacher. My name is Dr. P., and I may be the ideal tutor for you! I graduated from Georgia Tech with a PhD in Mathematics and have about half-dozen degrees from various fields of education. Presently Chair of Math, I have been teaching from past 22 years across all levels, from high school to masters'. I passed Praxis Mathematics with a record score of 197 on 20 [more]

I have taught discrete mathematics for several years in New Hanover County Schools. I have extensive knowledge of problems and processes related to fair division, Euler and Hamiltonian graphing theories, probability, matrices and statistics. I taught secondary (HS) mathematics for 24 years in New Hanover and Brunswick Counties. I have tutored calculus, but I spend most of my time tutoring statistics and precalculus students who attend UNC-Wilmington, Cape Fear Community College and local high schools. I also worked as a lead tutor in the Learning Lab of Cape Fear Community College from 2000 - [more]

I've been tutoring and working with a wide variety of discrete mathematics courses and problem types for some 20 years. These include analysis of properties and methods related to discrete probability distributions, including methods involving pmfs and moments. I've also worked with courses and problems involving logic, information theory and set theory, and typical courses and related problems used in introduction to discrete math for computer programmers, including proving concepts around integers and sums. I have also worked extensively with graph theory, discrete calculus and analysis, t [more]
