I am a former Wall Street quant with degrees in Math, Computer Science and Finance. I have been tutoring since my days on the Math Team at Stuyvesant HS. I was a high school teacher for a brief time and, more recently, I taught Probability and Statistics at Stony Brook University for a few years, where I received the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching. I believe that learning mathematics is about understanding important concepts, not memorizing a bunch of formulas, and that obtai... [more]

I have a Ph.D. in Operations Research and I have taken a graduate level course in Discrete Mathematics also known as Combinatorics. I got A in the course. Also, my Ph.D. thesis was in this field. I have confidence I can tutor in this subject. Mathematics is my strong suit, followed by Physics. My top performance in these gained me admission to the most sought out Mechanical Engineering program at a prestigious engineering college where only 1 % of students who wrote the entrance exam gained admission. I have tutored many students successfully in preparing for SAT, SAT Math I, SAT Math I [more]

When I took Discrete Math in college, the professor taught the course using a combination of theory (proofs, etc) and Python programming assignments, and this combination of theory and coding really solidified my understanding of discrete math. I love teaching this subject because of the wide array of topics that can be covered and described in relation to each other (graph theory, set theory, functions and relations, binary trees, structural induction, combinatorics, etc). I held recitation for the discrete math course at Stern College in Yeshiva University during Fall 2017. [more]

I have extensive knowledge of Boolean Algebra, Graph, tree, Recursive Function, Heaps. Solved Couple hundred problem from Discrete Mathematics by Kenneth H Rosen. And also wrote a 10 page paper on Prime-Fibonacci number. I am a current undergrad student at the City University of New York, Queens College, majoring in computer science. Looking for an opportunity to help our generation to accomplished dream. To reach our destination as computer science student I realized determination is the key and practice is the key-hole. Tutoring is one of the best ways to deal with it. Strong knowledge o [more]

Discrete Math is a collection of various other Math subjects including Logic, Combinatorics, Graph Theory, Algorithms, and more. I have studied each of these, either in a class devoted to the (like a course in Symbolic Logic alone) or in classes which contained them as special topics (for instance I learned Graph Theory through studying Probability, Abstract Algebra, and other subjects). So I am familiar with all of the usual topics covered in such a course. Hi, I am a graduate from Columbia University, fulfilling a bachelor's program in Mathematics as well as a master's program in Philosophy. [more]

I have taken a discrete mathematics course at Tufts University as a requirement for my major, and I excelled in the subject. I was able to easily grasp the concepts of set theory and the various types of proofs. I am qualified to teach the subject as I regularly tutored struggling students for pay following my successful completion of the class. I am a Junior at Tufts University (major: Electrical Engineering) currently taking time off from school. My main area of expertise is mathematics for standardized tests (e.g.: SAT, SAT II, ACT) as well as for general high school courses. When I work [more]

My PhD theses---as well as postgraduate research---were in the area of Discrete Mathematics. Who I am: NOT your run-of-the-mill tutor. Before a career on Wall Street, I was a professional, world-class mathematician. I have an MS and a PhD in mathematics from Yale University, and summa cum laude BS and MS in mathematics from the former USSR. A graduate of one of the Soviet Union's elite math-and-physics high schools, I was also a multiple Mathematics Olympiad winner. What I can do for you: (1) SAT/ACT and ISEE/SSAT test prep. Important as they may be, test-taking techniques on... [more]

I am an adjunct math and computer science professor at Mercy where I have taught and tutored math since 2011. I hold a master's degree in applied math and a master's degree in computer security. I hold a Master's degree in applied math and a master's degree in computer security. I currently teach (from algebra to calculus 2) at Mercy College since Fall 2013. I tutored math at Mercy since 2011 while I was a grad student. If there is something I like more about tutoring and teaching, it's seeing a smile on the face of my students and motivation to learn and ask questions. I love watching stude [more]

I can help you learn about logic and proofs, set and number theory, and combinatorics and probability. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Master's and PhD degrees in Computer Science. I am a NJ-certified math teacher (K-12), scored a perfect 200 on the Praxis II Middle School Mathematics test, and received an ETS Recognition of Excellence on the Mathematics Content Knowledge exam. I am a life-long educator with excellent communication skills. I go beyond mere educational content, cultivating students' problem-solving skills through the use of authentic, real-world scenarios. I have taken a graduate class on network science and I have read a lot about graph theory. I am also currently doing research (with a professor) on different topics in topology and fixed point theorems and most of what I'm doing involves some application of Sperner's lemma, which is a combinatorial problem in geometry (we are hoping to publish). I'm also currently taking a class on computability theory (graduate class) and I have taken two classes on logic, one class on set theory and a class on probability theory, which involves combinatorics. (I have also taken a class on abstract algebra). [more]
