I have taken a college Discrete Mathematics course, and done advanced work in Discrete Mathematics beyond the introductory level. I have many hours of experience tutoring Discrete Mathematics subjects on a one-on-one basis, including Logic, Set Theory, Probability, Combinatorics, Order Theory, Relations, Functions, and more. I try to make learning Discrete Mathematics fun by showing students how logic can be learned through certain specially designed puzzles, and introduce students to tools they might not otherwise have encountered, such as truth table generators and computer algebra systems. I have a Masters degree in Mathematics and have tutored the subject in the past. I was a professor at the University of Miami that moved to Central Florida. I have more than 30 years experience tutoring math/physics courses and can (and have taught) from High school to PhD-level math courses and from high school to 2nd year in college physics courses. I love teaching and have taught/tutored from the time I was 13 years old. I always had a passion about math as a subject. I was 13 years old when I had calculus and graduated high school when I was 15 years old. I was a... [more]

I am currently a full-time faculty member at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee. I teach all undergraduate mathematics courses offered at the university. Can tutor topics in discrete math that include sets, numbers, algorithms, Boolean algebra, computer arithmetic, elementary combinatorics, and an introductory to graph theory. "Why do we have to learn this?" "I'm a Criminal Justice major, why do I need to know what a derivative is?" "Okay, so y=x^2. What does that mean?" All questions I've heard many times Hello, my name is Rick W. We all do better in classes we enjoy. For man [more]

I have occasionally tutored Discrete Mathematics since I took it in college over 20 years ago. The beauty of Discrete Mathematics is that while most forms of mathematics lend themselves to problem solving if you know how to go about it, with Discrete Math the approach is usually quite concrete and understandable. My main strength with tutoring is my ability to present material in an easily understandable way. I have been tutoring part-time for over 20 years, and would like to make the jump to full-time. After all, it is what I enjoy, so why not go for it? I have two undergraduate degrees f [more]

I have a strong background in tutoring mathematics. The subjects included in discrete mathematics include set theory, combinatorics, logic, probability, number theory, algebra, and geometry. I have tutored most of the subjects included in discrete mathematics. I have of a lot of experience tutoring mathematics to high school and college students. I have tutored students in Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Developmental Math, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Calculus I, II, and III, and Differential Equations. ... I taught various subjects of discrete math, including financial math, set theory, linear algebra, probability, and linear programming. I have always been very interested in both mathematics and writing, both fiction and non-fiction. I graduated from Harvard College with my A.B. cum laude in mathematics and was also a member of my house?s literary writing group. I then graduated from Harvard Law School with a J.D. While there, I was very active in the law student newspaper, the Harvard Law Record, of which I became President in my third year there. After years in the Navy lawyer program, [more]

I have spent 36 years as a Math teacher. In that time, I have worked with ESE, ESOL, and Intensive Math students. My results have been very successful. I have been a math teacher for 35 years (30 in NYC), and a sports official for 22 years. I am NY born, and moved to Florida 6 years ago. I am an FCAT specialist with 97%-100% of growth each year in my classes. I have been tutoring students for more than 30 years. I have also been a driver education instructor in NY.... [more]

I have an M.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of New Orleans and have taken a variety of discrete mathematics. This includes number theory, abstract algebra and topology. I have an extensive understanding of logic and set theory. I have spent my career in computer software and have developed many business applications using concepts from discrete mathematics such as searching and sorting. Originally from New Orleans, where I received a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Mathematics from the University of New Orleans. I was awarded a Teaching Scholar [more]

Within the study of Mathematics, I have tutored Geometry, Algebra, Basic Arithmetic, and Calculus. Along with those disciplines, I include tutoring/taught Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. My professional industrial experience covers electronics and laser, and within those field I have lectured and taught. My degree is from SUNY, State University of New York, with a major in Physics Engineering. At CUNY, City University of New York, Queens College, I received credits for mathematics through Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. [more]

Discrete math is a critical element of Computer Engineering. Since that was the concentration of my Electrical Engineering degree, it was a must for me. Given my field, what I learned in discrete math I applied primarily to discrete sampling, digital logic and discrete sequences, but I excelled in all elements of the class. I was born with three gifts. Tutoring has always come naturally for me. Math has always revealed itself to me. And I am as comfortable with a computer as with an old friend. As early as high school I was tutoring in math, computers and foreign languages(Spanish, French) [more]
