I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Master's Degree in Secondary Education (Mathematics). I have 26 years of teaching experience at the high school and college levels (including Discrete Math) and am currently teaching HS Algebra 2 and Physics. Hello. I am a math and physics teacher at a local high school with 26 years of teaching experience. Most of my career has been spent teaching math, chemistry, and physics at the high school level but I have experience teaching middle school as well as experience as an adjunct lecturer at Northern Kentucky University. I am comfortable teachi [more]

I have taken several discrete math courses in both my undergraduate and masters programs. These included number theory, graph theory, algorithm and design, set theory, and proofs. I have also taught combinatorics for 14 years at the high school level. As a math tutor, my sole focus is on my students' success. I have made tutoring my full-time job because teaching is my passion and helping students succeed is my greatest reward. That passion for teaching will come through in our sessions together! I do not stop working for you at the end of each session. When I am not in front of students, I a [more]

I took Discrete Math my freshman year of college. I also took Transition to Higher Math in my sophomore year, which covered many of the same topics (logic, set theory, graph theory, combinatorics, and so on). Beyond that, these topics came up many times in other courses such as topology and abstract algebra. I have also taken courses in Computer Science, which reinforced the areas of Discrete Math on algorithms and asymptotic analysis. I have over four years of experience teaching math and three years of experience tutoring math. I have a Math degree from the University of Rochester. I was a M [more]

I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a mathematics minor from Marquette University. I have tutored math up to calculus, and physics, etc. for five years at Paradise Valley Community College. At the time I had received Level I and level II tutoring certificates required by the Maricopa community college system. I also tutored for CLUB Z, a private tutoring service in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. I was also a substitute teacher in the Paradise Valley unified school system And the Scottsdale unified school system. [more]

I have taught general math to young adults attempting to complete their GED and in other matriculation scenarios including Discrete Math and adult learners. I have also taught the progression of Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry to several different populations. These include Middle School, Junior High School, Senior High School, and college-age students in a number of educational venues including public and private schools, for-profit colleges, and conventional universities. I am also certified here on WyzAnt in all of the above math disciplines. I am proceeding toward [more]

I taught discrete mathematics in my 5th grade classroom. It was part of our Arizona state standards. I have been a teacher for the last four years. I taught Singapore math those four years. I like working with students who face challenges in math and need a different approach. Singapore uses visual methods to teach why math works. I feel this helps a student to understand the math behind the problem and helps them to learn. I live in the North Phoenix area by the Paradise Valley mall. ... [more]

I taught at the University of Arizona for over 5 years. I have the following academic credentials: BS, MS, and a PhD (ABD) in Pure Math and Math Education are my background education. After over 40 years teaching math, I realize the importance of it in my life. I have lots of experience being a Professor, instructor, teacher, coach and team player. On the other hand, BS,( Bachelor of Science) MS,( Master of Science)and a PhD (ABD) in Pure Math. And my field of expertise is anything From basic arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus I, II or III, differential eq [more]

My University B.A degree from the University of California is Computational Mathematics, and I had to take upper division courses in discrete math. Discrete math is the study of mathematical structures and functions that are "discrete" instead of continuous. Being a Certified mathematics Teacher, grades 6-12, I have taught high school mathematics for many years. I have also been teaching various courses in math and French to University students as well. I am very patient and understand that some students have a fear of mathematics, often due to a lack of understanding the basics. Students ofte [more]

At ASU, I have currently taken Math Structures (intro. to proof writing), Advanced Calculus (Introduction to Mathematical Analysis which is basically beginning proving calculus), Cryptography I (which has lots of number Theory), and introduction to Abstract Algebra as of Dec. 2013. All of these subjects cover more than 4/5th's of discrete mathematics. I have also tutored and have done review sessions(reviewed in front of a class of 30 or so students for their discrete math exam) at ASU for Discrete Mathematics. [more]

My undergrad degree is in Discrete Mathematics. This is the subject of how "finitely separated" things interact with each other. It includes understanding Linear Algebra (Matrices, systems of equations) as well as basic LifeSkills that do not require Calculus (i.e. continuous mathematics). Without a firm understanding of the discrete side of our universe (after all, continuous math/calculus is simply an idealization of how things should work, not how they are), Calculus can never be fully understood!
